Wow: Soon discovered why the FitBit Ionic wouldn’t charge, The adapter that I had was 3rd party, so I tried a different adapter which was the Apple iPhone adapter that I found in my apartment. Tried it, & sure enough it worked. There was nothing wrong with the cable.

See this thread for charging best practices. If you are not charging it correctly you could be damaging the battery
