I'm not sure what GPS would have to do with having cell service.
As for most trackers, they use the cell phone which does have cell service.

@Saltrock2k I think I might be reading your post a little different from @Rich_Laue. I am saying this because of the Phone Compatibility tag. It sounds like you want to be able to use your phone's GPS when you have trouble keeping your Ionic connected. Some of the Charge 4 reviews mention Dynamic GPS as a future update. With dynamic GPS, you can use the device or the phone, or so I read. The strong rumors have it coming to the Charge 4. No one knows if this would extend to the Ionic with its own firmware upgrade.
And if I completely misunderstand your question, then never mind.

What I'm trying to get at, is that phones use cell triangulation and GPS for more accurate positioning. My Ionic lost GPS again today and would have shown that I completed a marathon. So, would the 4G capability allow the watch to triangulate when GPS is weak?
I hope that is clearer.
