Just wanted to say hi and give a quick introduction of my first few days experiences with the watch.
I have purchased my first Fitbit. It's the Ionic. I also purchased a leather watch strap (for business attire), and some hands free Bluetooth ear buds at the same time. Came Wednesday this week. First impression was a well packaged and clean device.
I downloaded the Fitbit app onto my android phone.
On switching it on it wanted to update the device. First mistake - I ignored it's suggestion to connect the watch to Wifi, Tried transferring the system update via Bluetooth instead. Don't copy me - it took all night (only to have failed because Fitbit.com was down Thursday morning GMT).
Next day I set up the watch to communicate via Wifi. Easy process. The watch then updated without a problem and synced with my Android Phone.
Yesterday I wore it for the day. The steps are not counting correctly. I worked from my home office and hardly went out. It counted over 1000 steps. I need to read the forums as I'm sure others will have reported a similar problem. Hopefully I can set this to be much more accurate (step counting was one of my main reasons for buying the Fitbit).
I wore it through the night to test the sleep function, with an alarm set for 7am. Was interesting to sync with my phone this morning and look at the data. I'm not convinced about the amount it suggested I awoke during the night - but it was spot on with my start and wake times. I beat the alarm by half an hour - but when it vibrated at 7, it was enough to have woken me if I had of overslept.
Today I figured lets upload some music. Was not obvious how to do this but with google, and the support of this forum (thanks guys), I realised I needed to download a desktop app, create some MP3 playlists, and then uploaded the music. Once I had found this information it was a pretty quick process.
With that done I then switched on the earbuds and synced with the watch. Works perfectly. That was an easy pairing
Well - I guess I next need to sort out the step counter and then investigate loading daily calories.

I forgot to add - I have also got notifications with my android set up. Call, Txt and WhatsApp. I will need to explore these as I couldn't figure out how to answer a call via my watch earlier. Possibly the name "notifications" gives it away. It may be that I cannot interact with the notifications from my phone.
