Add Hike exercise mode to Ionic watch

I cannot seem to add the Hike mode or any other exercise modes to the watch.

The help article I saw was this:

https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1980

It says to hit the Account icon (which I did) and then press Exercise Shortcuts to edit the exercise menu.

I cannot find "Exercise Shortcuts" anywhere, on either my Android App or the desktop application. It seems the button does not exist. Is the article outdated? Am I not seeing something? What am I supposed to press? Thanks!

I would start by clicking on the link titled help, found below .

From there you may download your user manual, or search for multisport.

How do I use exercise apps and modes on my Fitbit device?

Track specific exercises and save the data to your exercise history.
On this page there is a link to

From the first page on the app, or web
Tap/click the icon of the tracker
Next tap exercise shortcuts

As noted in the bottom of the screen Drag handles to reorder. swipe to remove an exercise.
A maximum of 7 are allowed, you might have to remove one before you can add hiking.
Click/tap the plus found in the top right.
Check hike.
Tap add to Ionic

I'm still completely stuck. It's ridiculous how buried all of these features are. Here's what I've done.

On the Phone app:

Opened the app. Pressed the Account icon (little rectangle with circle and lines inside).

"Exercise Shortcuts" does not exist on this page. You mentioned I should press the "Device Icon". Is this different? What does this look like? Anyway, this is the only icon I see and here's everything listed:

My Name

Create Family Account

Ionic

+ Set Up a Device

Shop Fitbit

Try Fitbit Coach

Goals

Activity

Exercise

Nutrition & Body

Sleep

Discover

Compatible Apps

Help

Privacy and Security

Privacy

Notifications

Security and Login

Manage Data

Settings

Exercise Tracking

Heart Rate Zones

Advanced Settings

Blocked Users

Log Out

So Exercise Shortcuts is nowhere. I pressed on my name, nothing.

I pressed on "Ionic" then Apps, and it lists all of my apps. Clicked on Exercise. I can't change anything here. Just a description of the app.

I pressed "Exercise". It lists all of the exercises under Auto Recognized Exercises. Can't change anything else.

What do I do? This is getting ridiculous.

Hi, hopefully someone can help me too... I've successfully changed my exercise options on the dashboard, saved, and even restarted the actual watch. All to no avail; exercises changes won't update on my watch - still the same old 5 that came with the watch. Any direction?

Found this in another post and it worked.. weird. But in case anyone else comes across this post, here ya go.

Steps
1) Change exercise shortcuts on the app
2) Sync the watch
3) Press the bottom right hand button

Expected
Customised exercise shortcuts on app sync up with the watch.

Actual
Nothing happens as default.

Workaround
Press left button, swipe right, click exercise icon. Now it syncs.

Thanks w true @PixieGal changing the settings in the app and your Fitbit account is not enough. The user needs to sync up with the account to load the new settings into the watch .

Normally after the exercise settings are changed, the app will try and send this change to the Ionic. However it only tried once, and if it fails it fails requiring a manual sync .

I followed your instructions perfect! Thank you!

What exactly is everyone doing?

I followed this link: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1935#shortcuts

It says:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon (User-added image) >  your device image.

Okay. I did that.

     2. Tap Exercise Shortcuts.

This button simply does not exist anywhere.

Here is every option listed:

My Name

Create Family Account

Ionic

+ Set Up a Device

Shop Fitbit

Try Fitbit Coach

Goals

   Activity

   Exercise

   Nutrition & Body

   Sleep

Discover

  Compatible Apps

   Help

Privacy and Security

   Privacy

   Notifications

   Security and Login

   Manage Data

Settings

   Exercise Tracking

   Heart Rate Zones

   Advanced Settings

Blocked Users

Log Out

That's it! Literally nothing says, "Exercise Shortcuts". What button are people pressing to actually change the exercise modes? Nothing exists on my app.
