After the update the weather app does not work as far as it comes up with a different city name only, no degrees or anything else...
If I reinstall the app do you loose all your previous data?

I updated last night/early this morning. Weather was working when I woke up. Now it will not work. First it said I had to sync with the mobile app. That didn’t fix it. I tried deleting & reinstalling the app on my iPhone, but now the Fitbit App doesn’t show up under
Privacy->locations as an option to share my location with the app, which is needed for the weather to work. (It was a choice before...I don’t share my location with all apps, only a few selected ones.) I manually added a city and even after deleting it, that city is all that is displayed. Restarting the Ionic hasn’t helped.
Rant: After a two-hour update via Bluetooth because WiFi wouldn’t work, it’s so frustrating to see very minor changes that haven’t solved anything. Steps are still woefully undercounted and nothing has improved that I can see.. There are some very minor edits. I don’t think they have developers who know what they’re doing...they can’t get the basics right. What was the purpose of this big update? Why are thy launching another smart watch when they can’t properly service the one they just launched???
With that said if anyone can assist with the Weather App issue I’d appreciate it!

Finally found a solution that worked. I wasn’t sure how to link to it so I’ve copied it here; I hope it helps someone else. I only did steps 3-5. It synced on its own and weather for my location appeared.

I solved the problem a different way:
1) On watch, swipe right and enable notifications from phone
2) On phone, stop any Fitbit sync in progress -- may need to reboot phone
3) On Fitbit app, go to Ionic setup (the icon is on top right) and hit the trash icon to unlink the watch from phone
4) Perform hard reboot of watch by pressing left button and lower right button simultaneously
5) On phone, perform "new" setup by adding the Ionic. Make sure bluetooth, Wifi, and GPS are activated on phone.
6) On phone, perform a sync.
7)Cross fingers

No you will not loose your previous data if you reinstall the fitbit app.
Doing this will make it work again for pre-defined cities ... but not for current location.
To enable localization, install Yelp (or any other fitbit app requiring localization) on your fitbit, Yelp will ask for localization authorisation of the fitbit app, and then you are good to go.

Thanks but weather still doesn't work for me following this update.
I've followed your steps a couple of times.
Any other ideas would be appreciated,
Thanks

Ironically.. and no credit to fitbit, i got weather through a 3rd party watch app. Fitbit's own weather app had failed me since day 1, never found any city on my phone even after getting location permission, never displayed any temperature.
The ionic is an expensive distasteful joke on anyone who believed in the fitbit brand and ended up having all the blames pushed onto them.

Did you check your phone's settings -> Privacy -> Location -> Location service is on and also at the same place, under choose apps for your precise location that the Fitbit app is checked on (Windows)? In Android it is under settings -> connections -> Location.

Yet again, another problem with my ionic. Weather app no longer works after update. But I’m sure I will ONCE AGAIN be told to restart it as they think that’s the fix for everything that never works. I HAVE RESTARTED!!!!

I’ve read other posts on this topic but have not found a fix. The weather app will not sync; will not let me add a city; and will not let me delete the app. Help!

My weather app worked when I first got the watch but after the update it no longer works. My world clock app also did not work but when I followed the instructions for fixing it, the World Clock began to work. I have tried every fix out there for the weather app. It doesn’t give the Option to delete it or I definitely would! It won’t allow me to add any locations either. It shows the name of my default city but no data. It says I need to sync it which I’ve probably done hundreds of times by now. I need a way to delete this app because I don’t want something on my watch that is never going to work. If anyone has a way to delete this Fitbit weather app please share it!

I feel your pain. The Fitbit support sent me some directions: tried of all of them and still nothing.

I checked my IPhone. Looked for privacy and location and found that my fitbit is checked with "always" so that doesn't help, but thanks.

It’s the same for me not working. I bought a new one and it got updated with the error. But the weather app is still not fixed.

I'm using Iphone / IOS. I uninstalled/deleted the entire Fitbit app and reinstalled. This solved a lot of my issues. Once reinstalled, to get location services working with weather is not intuitive. You need to go to the dashboard "weekly exercise" tile and touch the stopwatch in the upper right hand corner then choose "Track". You should get a pop up requesting the use of "Location services". Now the fitbit app will show up in Iphone's Settings>Privacy>Location Services. Change "Allow Location Access" to "Always".
There may be a better way but I could not find it. Weather app working reliably for two days now.
