The current version, 27.33.1.30 bricked my last Ionic and apparently I'm not the only one.  Even though my new Ionic is working wonderfully, I'm nervous being on the same sketchy firmware.  Can we expect a patch or something coming soon?

And I don't recall getting more then 1-2 each year so far, so don't expect anything.

@Metalman007 you certainly aren’t the only one. Mine went the other day after the update. Unpredictable behaviour from my ionic now, mostly counting steps constantly but pretty much useless.

I contacted support who are resolving my issue with a replacement. I also wonder how reliable this firmware is and when an update will be released.

 

The answer isn’t device costing more than twice the Ionic, while it was working it was fantastic. It cost enough in its own right and Fitbit should be fixing the root cause of these problems.
