Are dead pixels common on the Ionic?

I was in the process of setting up my brand new Ionic, and I noticed a black spot in the middle of the screen that appears to be a dead pixel.  It was very apparent on setup, because the entire background except for the Fitbit icon was blue.  If I look at the area directly, it's black and if I tip the watch in any direction, it turns into a bright spot.

My question before returning it is, is there any reason to bother getting a replacement?  Are dead pixels common on this device?  Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks

I don't  recall seeing this problem reported here on the forum before (and mine is fine) so I would say not common. Id suggest you get a replacement.

I've had three Ionic's in total so feel I can answer from experience. None of them have had any dead pixels and as @NellyG said, I've also not heard any reports on here. So I think there is a very good chance your replacement won't either. That's not to say it won't have a different issue though, hence why I've been through three. Obviously that's a risk you have to weigh up. If you can't see the pixel and really have to hunt for it and the device is otherwise flawless, maybe it's not worth taking the risk. Personally I can't stand dead pixels and screen defects, so I would definitely ask for a replacement

Good luck.

Buongiorno,

I got a replacement and no dead pixel.  Now if I could only get it to sync reliably.  But then, I've had five different iterations of the fitbit and none of them have been particularly reliable in that way.

My ionic started suffering from dying pixels just after one year of moderate usage. It's being worn wrapped in decent protective case, still looks like new however firstly left top corner of the screen started dying now to my disappointment I've noticed first signs of dead pixels spreading from right top corner too. Really worrying considering price of those watches and with only one year warranty I don't think I will splash out on new device.

Had that on mine too top left hand corner. I'd get it replaced. My seal broke not long after and I ended up with a dead fitbit

Top left corner... that's where it started on mine too. I heard that those screens are not replaceable.

Well I too have dead pixels about the size of a pencil almost dead center. Watch is just over a year old and out of warranty. No replacement option just a coupon for 35% off full retail price. This is my third Ionic that has malfunctioned, second 35% off coupon. Very expensive watch to not last even 2 years. Such a rip off!!! I am done with Fitbit.
