Are steps counted when logging a treadmill workout?

Yesterday I logged a treadmill workout on my ionic using the exercise app. The total workout added about 6000 steps to my daily total and I ended the day with around 11,000 steps. When I checked this morning my total steps for yesterday was just under 5000 steps. Does the daily tracker not count your steps when you start a treadmill workout using the exercise app? I'm concerned about this because my work creates bonus incentives based on our steps throughout the year. Should I just not start a treadmill workout on the app and it will log those steps?

Hello @ckbrown88 when you say that you used the exercise app. Which app did you use? Or in what way did you log the treadmill?

Where these 11k showing in the Fitbit app last night?

I'm wondering which way the event was added..

I used default app that was already on my fitbit when I got it. I have the Adidas edition ionic. I start the app before my workout and select treadmill and then finish and close it when I am done with my run.

The 11k steps was showing on my Fitbit last night.

Actually I may have found the issue. My app says my device hasn't synced since yesterday at 3:45pm. I'm guessing that it didn't count any steps on the app since the last time it was synced.

Now my issue is understanding why it's not syncing. I have the all day sync selected but I think this is something I can figure out.

That was going to be my next question, especially if the app did not show 11k last night.

All day sync simply tells the app to try and sync, I think every 20 minutes, if fails it won't try again for 20 minutes.

It should sync when the app is first opened. If your asking for help with the phone, please include the phone type.

Have you restarted the tracker and the phone?
