Battery lasting lass than a day

Have used my ionic for about 10months now and it's been super. Noticed after the last upgrade that my battery no longer lasts more than 6 hours  and this is a major disappointment for me... considering that it used to last about 5 days previously. A drop from 5 days to 6hrs.

It seem to me that all my fitbit devices never last more than 1 year...

This is the 4th device I have owned and I do not think I would be buying another one if this goes on like this.

Suffice to say that it still takes the same length of time to charge.it.

Hi there AyoT.

After the last update my battery lasted less than a day as well. I seem to have solved the problem. Note that I use my Ionic for fitness only. I am interested in my resting heart rate, intensity of exercise, calorie burn during exercise and daily calorie burn. I do not use it for wallet or music or any other third party stuff...well any more that is...but read on.

So, after the update it was abysmal and I searched Garmins. But, undeterred I had a fiddle...I sync using an iPhone. Here is what I did on my Ionic setup;

1) Removed all previously installed third party apps.

2) Removed all software that had been reinstalled during the update such as Strava, Deezer, Wallet, news (I kept fitness coach and weather).

3) I still receive notifications from phone and my email client which I enabled from the Ionic setup.

4) I have it on normal brightness - not auto and movement to activate - 10s timeout.

5) Re-booted and charged to 100%.

6) Made mental note NOT to do the next firmware update. 🙂

Yesterday morning I was 99% at breakfast, wore it all day...9000 steps....a 45 min workout @ 14 cals min and it was 91% when I went to bed after the rugby!!!

You could install third party / fitbit software one at a time and see what effect it has on your battery. I use the custom Commodore clock.

Hope this works for you and all the other "updaters" out there.

Cheers!!

I think i am finally done with FitBit... now to explore other trackers / smartwatches
