Battery saving mode on GPS tracking

Hey guys,

Could anyone create an update to the exercise app that allows you to have a  battery saving mode on GPS tracked activities.

I'd love to be able to set it so it polls GPS every 2 seconds when running (or double the time between it's current setting).

I don't need hyper accuracy, but I do need my battery to last for a 12/13 hour race.

Garmin and Suunto have three accuracy settings that push the battery life out, but are 3 X the price and I really like my Ionic.

@Fitbit - team if you guys could consider this for the next update?

Nick

@NickWAllen very useful feature. Btw. I bought my Suunto Sport WHR Baro for only 50 quid more than I paid for Ionic 😉 more but worth every penny.

@SunsetRunner  yeah I'm looking at that model too. Only thing is I've got used to the convenience of paying for things with my Ionic and leaving the wallet at home. I don't think Suunto have that on anything but the 9, and thats only in the UK.

@NickWAllen here, in the UK FitbitPay is a dead feature due to lack of support for most of banks ( my bank, HSBC, isn't supported and I don't think it will ever be  ) so that wasn't my criteria ( anyway I used to use SamsungPay due to increased payment limit, but this I can do only using my mobile ). With Suunto make sure that you know features, limitations and the way the app(s) and watch work beforr you buy anything because if somebody is used to Fitbit it may be tough transition ( in my opinion, Suunto is more addressed to athletes while Fitbit is more for casual users who are trying to lose weight or simply start moving more ).

@NickWAllen Garmin has some devices which provide NFC-based payment (Garmin Pay) as well as the core feature set of the Ionic (and Suunto devices). Just another option to consider.
