Blank Screen after swim

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Ionic stopped working after a swim a few days ago (July 17). The swim was only floating on the water – no deep swimming. The screen is blank. The app shows it is syncing and the battery is fully charged. It is not tracking sleep, steps or heart rate -nothing.

On the back, some green lights flash occasionally.

With a blank screen I can’t perform the Shut-down or Restart procedures. I tried to restart it anyway, but nothing doin’.

Firmware Version 27.20.8.0

Please help. I’ve been with Fitbit for nearly 7 years and don't want to do without it!

It's toast! Out of warranty - out of luck unfortunately.

Best you can try is let the battery drain over the next few days so the device resets due to a loss of power. Be prepared for it not to charge back up though. Worth a try, but unlikely to magically get the screen back.

The knock-off Rolex's I bought in Bali back in the early 2000's were more waterproof (for a while) and only cost ~$40. The Breitling knock-offs didn't last long though.

Lol!

It's not right! The Ionic is sold as water resistant up to a certain depth. And it's not cheap!!

Just went through the same issue after a swim. I dried out the Ionic, let the battery drain and then hade it charge back to full. Let it run down again (took only hours to happen). Charged it again. Noticed that the Ionic gets really hot while charging. After a few days the Ionic mostly came back. The battery would only last a few hours. The heart rate sensor would not work at all and floors would stay a zero. Still the battery would only last a day. A couple of more days and I noticed the battery was back to normal.  I upgraded the firmware to the latest version 4.1.2 and the heart rate sensor and everything else including the battery now works great. I won't be swimming again with it!

My ionic went blank about a month ago too. Wouldn't charge,  black screen,  thought it was done.  My wife told me I shouldn't go in the pool with it ... I was conceding she was right.

Then one day last week it somehow came back to life, charges to 100% too.

Feeling lucky... wont swim with it again
