is it possible to block the screen while working out?
I used to have an Apple watch before my FitBit Ionic and it had this useful option to block the screen while you work out so that the watch doesn't accidentally stop to track your activity

Not exactly, and annoyingly if your screen is accidentally touched you pause your workout with realising. What I do is play music at the same time, hold the screen when it's tracking your workout and it'll switch to the music app, so if you do accidentally touch it away least you only pause the music rather than the workout

That sounds like the perfect solution!!
do you know if it still works if I listen to music on my phone? (like I do this thing that you said but don't actually play anything)
plus, how do I get back to the exercise page once I'm done?
sorry but I'm totally new to this world

Your watch will need to be connected to some sort of speaker/ headphone to think it's playing, there's no reason why you can't then play music from your phone to however you choose to listen to that. To get back just hold the screen again
