Bluetooth connection difficulties

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've been having issues with my Bluetooth loosing connection and not syncing. Several times I've gotten messages saying it's a Bluetooth issue. Also, today my  display is showing the time but -- instead of steps, distance, etc.

Hello @CO4JUPLEO thanks for bringing this to my attention, let me help you with this situation and also give you a warm welcome to our Community Forums.

Seems odd that your device is experiencing such connection difficulties, when this situation occurred for the first time? Are you using a compatible mobile device to sync your Ionic? If you haven't already done so, I recommend you to check the troubleshooting steps from our help article: Why won't my Fitbit device sync? and let me know how it goes.

Let me know if you have any additional questions, I'll be here.

My husband had an Ionic before me and had the same issues until his finally died after only having it less than 13 months. I have a Samsung Galaxy S8Plus and have always had connection issues here and there but lately it's been A LOT. I've tried rebooting the fitbit via holding the left and bottom right buttons down, restarting my blue tooth, rebooting my phone, turning the wifi off and on, and turning off and on the "Always connected" and "All day sync" in the app. I've uninstalled and re-installed the fitbit app on my phone and unpaired then re- paired my Ionic with the phone. I eventually can get it to connect for a little while then it drops the connection again. Since my watch face app was only showing the date and time, but was no longer displaying the steps, heart rate, duration of exercise, etc..., I changed the watch face thinking maybe that face was no longer supported. Of course, that was fun because I kept getting a message saying my Ionic was not connected to my phone. after a day of messing with it, I finally finagled it to update to a different watch face that would work. Also, I'm not always getting my notifications on my watch even if I'm sitting next to my phone. I had an Alta before this and it worked fine except I didn't always get my notifications. I still have my Alta and use it whenever I don't have time to mess with the Ionic not connecting. I definitely feel my Alta is more stable than the Ionic. Too bad it doesn't have GPS and Pandora on it. At this rate, I'm seriously thinking about going the same route as my husband after the replacement FITBIT that was sent to him (for his that died after he had to fight to get it replaced without having to buy a new one, and that one wouldn't pair to his phone), and get a Garmin. He's had no problems and is very happy. I would rather have mine work the way it's supposed to without having to fight it everyday, especially since I've had it less than a year. 😞

Thanks for your reply and update @CO4JUPLEO, I'm happy to continue helping you with your concern. My sincere apologies for the delayed reply.

Thanks for trying the troubleshooting steps that were previously provided and for the details that were shared on your post, your effort and patience with this connection difficulties are appreciated. Seems odd that you're experiencing this situation with the Samsung S8+ because this specific mobile device is compatible with our products and services, however, can you please let me know if you experienced the same situation with another mobile device? Did you already tried syncing it with a computer to see if the same connection difficulty is experienced? Is your Samsung S8+, Fitbit app and Ionic firmware version up to date?

Regarding the notifications situation, you're not receiving text and phone call notifications or just one of them? You receive them but this feature works sporadically because you sometimes receive all your notifications and sometimes not? This could be related to the connection difficulties that you're experiencing when you try to sync your Fitbit device. I recommend you to check our help article: How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device? and if necessary, move forward to: My Fitbit device isn't receiving notifications from my phone for more information and details.

Thank you for sharing your husband's experience and yours as well, your comments and feedback are appreciated. Please keep me posted so I can continue providing you with assistance.

Looking forward ot your reply. Let me know if you have any additional questions.
