I’ve had the same issue with my Jabra elite headphones and it also started late July/early August. No issues before that, but now I get the connection failed (it finds them, and tries to connect but can’t). No issues pairing my other headsets... but this is driving me crazy because it always worked great before.

I had the exact same issue. I have the Jabra elite active 65t. I found that after resetting the Jabra earbuds, I could again pair with my Versa. To reset, hold the multi-function button down for 10 seconds until the light flashes purple.

I am also having problems pairing my Jabra Elite ear buds to my Ionic. It used to connect fine but now refuses to. Have tried rebooting the Ionic several times, disconnecting it from the app and reinstalling it, etc. It finds the Jabra earbuds in pairing mode, but I keep getting "Connection Failed." WTF?!! This is ridiculous... for the cost of the Ionic it should not be this difficult. Am considering switching to an Apple watch instead, my friends who have them don't seem to have these kinds of headaches.

Yep feel your pain.  Been thru all that frustration.  Had the exact same problem with my Jabra Elite Actives.

1     In a nutshell what worked for me was a complete Ionic re-install back to factory new with firmware updated to .19 + resetting the Jabras back to factory until they flashed purple.  I know a lot of time and effort -> but it was worth it.

2     Then only paired the Jabras and no other BT devices.  They paired up right away.

3    The Jabras auto-pair if they are the only BT device (recommended) -> or you have to choose them if other BT devices are added and paired after to the Ionic.  We have multiple BT devices paired up again and all are properly working.  Key was to have the Jabras as the first device paired.

4     Re-starting the Ionic + re-setting the Jabras only gave me a temporary fix -> but is always worth a try since no data is lost trying that.  That did work for a bit.

Try this and see if you can get your Jabras to pair up and stay paired up.   Mine have stayed paired up for weeks now with no more “Connection Failed”.  Oh BTW Tech Support could not resolve this problem when I called them.

Really there is no need to suffer in Frustration - simply call Tech Support at 877-623-4997 and get your Ionic replaced right now while you can
Many have followed this straightforward advice and now have a replacement Ionic - we all should have “zero tolerance” for any defective Ionic

Spent 2 hours re-setting Ionic back to factory new, did NOT upgrade firmware since that was when the pairing problems with my Jabra Elite began. Shut down all other bluetooth devices (not that that should even be necessary if the technology was competent). Same problem... Ionic finds my Jabra immediately, but when I attempt to pair it's still "Connection Failed."

For a fitness watch this expensive this should not be happening. If I were to bill Fitbit at my hourly rate for my time wasted on this B.S. piece of crap they would owe me money!

Time to switch to an Apple watch I guess. Part of me wants to smash the Ionic with a sledgehammer and return it to Ionic in a million bits in an envelope; but I'll probably just recycle it as electronic trash.

In the meantime I'm advising all of my friends to avoid Fitbit like the plague and go with an Apple watch or a Garmin. (I can't stand Apple anything so that says a lot, but my friends who have the Apple watch love them and do not have these issues.)

Hmm?  If you reset the Jabras until the light flashed purple then yeah -> that is a major pain.  Switching to Apple would be a viable solution.  Fortunately mine have continued to pair in .19 and now in .30.  But noticed that Tech Support is aware proper Jabra connection has been an ongoing unresolved issue with Fitbit devices.  Kinda surprised Fitbit moderators have not stepped in to help you with this.

BEST SOLUTION FOR PAIRING JABRA (OR OTHER BRAND) EARPHONES OR EARBUDS TO A FITNESS WATCH, MOBILE PHONE OR OTHER BLUETOOTH AWARE EQUIPMENT WHICH SUPPORTS  AUDIO

I found (after much trial and error) that this is the best (and probably the only) way to "Pair" a Jabra Halo Smart v. 1.7.2 set of earbuds (the earbuds attached to on solid neck brace) to your
Fitbit watch (Ionic).

The procedure will probably also work (with slight variations) for any model of
Jabra Headphones/earbuds (or in fact any other brand of listening device) to any Fitbit (or other) watch which has the capability of Bluetooth connection. These instructions also apply for connections to any mobile phone or PC which has Bluetooth on board (nearly all mobile phones/PC's nowadays)

Please note that these instructions as written apply to setting up your Jabra on a Fitbit Ionic watch. The procedure should be roughly the same for whatever model bluetooth aware watch you may have and to whatever bluetooth earphones (produced by Jabra at least). Perhaps earphones produced by other manufacturers may also work (worth a try!)

The first thing to do is ensure the right side earbud headpiece is actually in your ear so you can hear what is going on! This is important! (Of course, it may be the "left" side for your own headphones/earbuds, just depending on which way your are wearing them! LOL Man LOL

Then:

1. Make sure your Jabra earbuds/headphones are turned OFF (No lights flashing)
If lights are flashing hold down the "on" button to turn off the headphones/earbuds.
    (the lights will then stop).

2. Press and hold the centre ROUND button on the left hand side of the brace
(the side under your left ear). Again, this applies to the Jabro Halo Smart headpiece (brace).
With other models use the "On" button (may not be round).

3. Hold down this "on" button until your hear a voice coming through the earbud in your right ear

    saying::
"Go ahead and connect me. Use the Bluetooth setting on your phone."
(Do not release the button until you hear those words).

4. If you are setting up for your watch, go to the watch (Instead of the phone) and "left swipe"
the screen until you see the "Settings" Icon (this is on an Ionic and so may be accessed differently

    on other models)

5. Scroll down to "Bluetooth Connection Options" (again applies to Ionic) and Tap that menu item

with your finger. (Different wording may apply to other model watches)

6. Click on "+ Audio Device"  (or other words indicating you are adding an audio device).
The watch will look around for a bluetooth signal from audio devices in the area..

It should find "Jabra Halo Smart v1.7.2" (or some other headset if you are using these
instructions to set up another model).

7. Tap on the item "Jabro Halo Smart 1.7.2" (or again, the applicable name of your device)

The message on the watch will then change to "Pairing Jabro Halo Smart" (or whatever)

8.  A large "Tick" will then appear on your watch with the word "Paired" underneath it
(or some other form of confirmation).

9.  You will hear a small "beep" in your earbud.indicating the connection has been made.

You can then repeat these steps for other devices such as desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile phones etc.

There......your done!  Man Happy

This took ages to work out, but I think that perhaps nearly everyone makes the mistake I made.

I was not listening through the earbuds, and although I pressed the centre button until the light changed to blue (as per instructions) I was releasing the button straight away before the audible instruction through the earphone came through (see step 3).
(Of course I did not hear it since I did not have the buds in my ears!).

When the message with the instruction comes through on the earbud, then that is the moment the Headphones/Earbuds start emitting a signal for the Fitbit/Phone/computer to pick up and automatically "Pair".the two devices. If you release too early (even though the blue light is flashing) no connection can be made.

Hopefully these instructions will help all others to successfully pair their Bluetooth Earphones/Earbuds to their Fitbit watch (or to their bluetooth aware equipment) no matter what models they are using).

Enjoy! Man Happy

I'm having the same issue, did you ever get a solution? I'm trying to connect my skullcandy SB2 wireless earbuds to my ionic. The first time I connected them it succeeded with no issue, but now it won't pair. I've performed the factory reset on the headphones and the soft reset on the fitbit numerous times. I've turned off bluetooth on my phone, turned off "always connected" and "all day sync", and even turned my phone all the way off. The fitbit finds my headphones just fine as they are both in pairing mode but they never seem to pair. Like I said, I've tried everything short of a factory reset on the fitbit itself, which is my next step of nothing else works.

Did you read my entry posted ‎01-15-2019 05:49  (above)?

That is the global solution I think and should apply to all brands of equipment.

Kindest regards....Chris
