I did a run today (intervals) which recorded perfectly on my ionic, using GPS. When I synced with the app the map would not show, although I can see it on the desktop dashboard. All I get is the spinning circle. It also hasn’t uploaded to strava, even though previous runs have. Scrolling down previous runs with maps have also turned into spinning circles. I am using the app on my iphone. I have tried all the obvious turning things on and off, deleting and installing the app again, checked I have latest iOS and app version. Any ideas anyone?

@Rach684, @Cairney17 Can you confirm that you only see an infinite spin during interval workout? Does it happen every time? Is this only on iOS? In order to review this further, I looked at your account at Fitbit.com and I see the maps are visible.

Yes, I just get the spinning icon. I started this thread last year and it was established that this was a known issue with the Fitbit iOS app. There is a post in this thread stating that, and stating that it was being worked on. I can get the map if I use the web based Fitbit site, however it is not possible to see it on the app and it does not sync with strava.

Hi.
I have the same issue on the Windows OS and Chrome browser.
Yesterday I had an interval workout (GPS was turned on) after that I started running workout. My run has been exported int the Strava but my interval workout doesn't. I'm not able to download TCX file from the Fitbit portal because of error "The activity TCX file could not be downloaded. We are looking into the issue."
I'm sure that problem is with such kind of activity(interval). In my opinion, the solution is simple. The developer should change the type of activity for run mode. Interval mode is nothing more than run, but with the notification when we have to move or rest.

Hi, I’m having the same issue. I use the interval timer for running and the gps map never appears in the app. It works when I do a regular run or walk but never the interval timer. This is really annoying as the interval timer was a big selling point for me. I emailed Fitbit directly as well.

Also have this issue. Can a Moderator confirm this is 1) an issue acknowledged by Fitbit and 2) its *actively* being worked on? They just released a whole bunch of new devices - better get on top of these issues before more and more people buy their products and find out these issues exist.

@evillama, @KatieL18 , @Rach684 I can confirm this issue is being looked into. It would be helpful to have dates when your Interval Workout is not loading on your iOS device? It appears that the map is visible on the Fitbit.com dashboard.

I too have this issue with my charge 3 ... I use the apple iOS app. Managed to get all the data for the intival training I did... just not the map data. GPS is turned on in the interval timer section of the watch but just the infinite spinning wheel in the map section of the fit bit app also there isn’t any Strava intigration for interval training like the standard run. This occurred March 11th 2019
Moderators, what’s going on? Are Fitbit just saying they are looking into this it seems to have been going on for months now , and we have had at least 2x app updates since the start of this thread??!!

It has never been disputed that you can see the map on Fitbit.com, but you can’t see it in the app and it won’t sync to Strava either automatically from the app, or through creating a file from the website (as it says it is unable to create the file to export). This has been the same for a long time and it was supposed to be being worked on, but there has been no progress that can be seen, and as others have said, this is disappointing when at the same time new products are being developed.

+1 Rachel!
Well put Rachel! It's ridiculous that instead of working on basic usability of the device, they are pushing more faulty devices (as they cannot do what they say) onto the market.
Kind regards,

@SunsetRunner there is a chance that new devices are less faulty. For example Versa Lite - problems with uploading music? Feature removed, one problem solved 😉 I may be wrong but the new devices seem to be a step back from the smartwatch approach ( despite being called smartwatches ). If it means that Fitbit engineers decided to look at the whole picture again and try to get it right next time - that's good. It doesn't change anything for users like me, it won't fix my Ionic and I think I'm already put into "lost and unwanted customers" box anyway. Future customers however still will have a chance to get a "fit for purpose" device if ever Fitbit releases one. For current unhappy customers, I recommend looking at the trackers/smartwatch market, there are plenty of choices. We don't sign a "ball and chain" contract with Fitbit by buying a device 😉

Hi @SunsetRunner while I appreciate where you are coming from I don't believe that having less features in order for there to be less usability issues solves any problems, rather it is creating new ones.
I believed when I bought the Ionic that Fitbit were making attempts to reach the whole fitness/activity tracker market. They have low and mid level devices but this would challenge Android Wear and Apple Watch OS (although it was never a case of being as extensive an OS as these). Also by including GPS they were challenging Garmin/Polar etc.
The lack of fixes for basic features on the Ionic, as well as the lack of features on the new devices means they have basically removed the upper segment of the market that is looking for a good all rounder with some smart capabilities.
Even if Fitbit were to release an Ionic successor in August (looking at the average 2 year release schedule for Fitbit) and it was the best fitness smartwatch available on the market, as you have mentioned, I am not locked to Fitbit with a ball and chain, I am gone. Is this not a huge mistake by Fitbit? They are alienating their customers and forcing them to move to their competitors?
Anyway back on topic, Interval workouts has never worked on Fitbit OS. I would say that the Versa and Versa Lite will have the same issues as they run the same OS.

@SunsetRunner that's all true. Just one clarification about what I meant. Removing problematic features from the next low/mid-end devices may work for Fitbit's benefit and give them time to finally fix all those features before they bring them back. That would prevent to carry over the buggy modules into next devices. Can't fix, then shelve it temporarily. That's what I meant. Of course, it's just an idea and maybe I'm just trying to look for some logical explanation where in reality there is no one 😉
Lack of fixes was always a problem. Overall quality of the product and lack of certain features ( this one is probably very personal view as everyone's requirements are different ) pushed me to the competitor. If I'm not happy with the competitor - will find another one. Btw. I didn't mean you were "locked" but if you read the forum here I can't believe that people fall for it so many times getting nth-replacement and still willing to buy another product rather make some effort and research other options. Being loyal to the brand ends when it costs me more money than it's worth 😉 One mishap very often is enough. Recently, I returned my PolarV650 bike computer - problems with syncing, crashing app on OSX, problems with PolarFlow in the browser, problems with BT connectivity ( half way in I noticed it didn't even connect to my chest strap ). I picked Polar because I am happy with the PolarH10 chest strap. I made mistake, and now I'm using the Wahoo bike computer which ( for now ) seems to be alright. With Ionic I don't even bother as all I can get is a replacement which I simply don't need, don't want. No even partial refund so no option that pleases me.
My apologies, it went a bit off-topic 😉

I seem to have a similar issue with my Ionic.
I use the "Interval Timer" Exercise option.
Even on the iPhone settings for my Ionic there is an option to use GPS or not to, and I always have it checked to use the GPS.
On the FitBit dashboard I can see the GPS route I took, but it does not upload to Strava. That is contrasted with using the "Walk" or "Run" Exercise options, which DO auto-upload my GPS workouts to Strava.
Help appreciated,
Thanks

Sadly Fit bit don’t seem to care... this is an app only issue I personally have the iOS version. But as you say it has been a long time, there have been a number of app updates for iOS and little /no improvements. If anything I have syncing issues now with my charge 3. So it’s worse...
I would go as far to say that I haven’t actually highlighted the issues to Fitbit directly and only questioned on the community boards such as this one. So either it’s the moderators NOT passing the message on to Fitbit or Fitbit are happy with providing an app that is out dated and doesn’t work!! Shame as I quite like the device I have.
You can still view the mapped data on the web Fitbit dashboard. If that helps, no it isn’t convenient but at least the data is available in some shape or form... I have just taken to mapping running now as the other parts of the exercise tracking functionality are let’s face it completely useless!!
Fitbit!
Do something!!
