When I initialized my Ionic in December I received all text and email notifications. I no longer have these options and after calls to the company I got no instructions which would solve the problem. Any suggestions?

Welcome on board @pdub46, it's nice to see a new member here! From the clock screen, hold the back button and then swipe to the quick settings screen. Make sure Notifications is set to On.
Notifications skip or stop occasionally for several reasons that don't suggest a problem with your device or the Fitbit app.
If notifications aren’t working, force quit the Fitbit app and reopen it to sync your Fitbit device. Notifications should work as expected after your device syncs. If they don't, let's do the following:
If the issue persists, I'd recommend setting up your notifications again:
Note that Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa receive notifications while your phone is in Do Not Disturb, Quiet hours, or Driving mode, but your watch won’t vibrate or wake the screen. To view notifications, swipe down from the clock screen.
