Which timezone is the challenge configured in? Is it different from wher you are?
Have you manually added any steps to your account through creating exercise records (for example)?

Sometimes it takes a while for the dasboard and the challenges to catch up. Rest assured though that Fitbit has your steps recorded and will adjust accordingly.

Had the same issue last week. Went for a run, but the battery was too low so it stopped after 1km. I manually logged the rest of my 5k run.
Logged in on fitbit.com, everything showed up correctly, but in the challenge there were 7k steps missing.
Kris.
