Hi - I have put music in my ionic which plays fine. When not tracking a workout I can see playlists and songs to choose in the music app. What I can't see is how to do that when I am working out. I can get the (pause/forward/vol up) screen but not the track and play list. Anyone know how to do this please?

Thanks for stopping by @ElsHogan! Currently, it's not possible to change playlist while Ionic is in exercise mode. Once it's in exercise mode, there's no way to exit and change your song without quitting out of it.
Hope this helps!

Many thanks - hopefully a feature for the future as I was really surprised that I couldn't do this

That’s really surprising and a pretty big dissapointment. So the Ionic can’t multitask during exercise mode? Can we get some multitasking or app switching at least with the music app pushed into a forthcoming update? where do we go to request this?

I know - I was so disappointed!! You can only access basic music controls which you get on wireless headphones such as rewind, volume up and headphones - not quite my ideal iPhone replacement while exercising

Hey @SunsetRunner and @ElsHogan! I totally understand your point about having more functions while Fitbit Ionic is in exercise mode. You can post your ideas or features that you want to be implemented in trackers or Dashboard in our Feature Suggestions board. Those are viewed by our engineers and developers.
Thanks for your suggestions!

I also add to the list of disappointed Ionc owners. I mainly use my fit bit to work out, as I’m sure a lot of people do, so this is really unacceptable. I’m returning my ionic and will not buy another one until the situation is corrected. For a $300 product this is really unbelievable!

Silvia it would be possible if there was a way to reset and reschedule one of the two shortcuts activated by long pressing the two buttons on the right, which currently are music player and notifications.
The reason being that when in exercise mode by long pressing one of the two buttons on the right the system allows you to switch to one of the preset shortcuts without interrupting your exercise. After you finish your second task you can go back to your exercise screen by pressing the left button.

You can reset the two buttons on the right by moving apps on the Ionic around. The two buttons are mapped to the top left and bottom left apps on the first app screen. But I dont think that will work to change playlists

No you cant because you didnt pay attention to what i was saying.
I meant long pressing the two buttons not just pressing them, long pressing activates a different shortcut.

Unless im missing something this doesn't work - the shortcut with long press doesn't change depending what apps are in that first screen. This would be a fab option though!

I know this is what i am suggesting, choosing what to do with longpressing the two right buttons.

I have put it into the feature suggestion section as it is more likely to be implemented from there - perhaps add your vote there to get it noticed would help

Just got the ionic this week. I spent the extra dollars for it for the music functionality. Disappointed that it is not very robust. Is there an eta when this maybe available?
The initial question is several months old. May take it back as it doesn't meet expectations.

A warm welcome to the Community @naes180! I don't have any information about when this feature will be changed. However, there's this feature suggestion Access to full music functions during workout tracking, those are viewed by our engineers and developers and the best of this is that the status will change to inform you more updates about the idea.
Hope you can vote for it!

This is a huge let down for such a costly device. Only realised this issue today. I sometimes run very long distances (for more than hours). Do you expect me to listen to only one playlist during that time? This is a big issue pls sort it out and provide software update.
