My ionic charger is not making a good connection to the watch. When on the charger it won’t charge unless I hold the charger firmly to the watch. Has anyone had this problem?

Can you feel the magnetic 'pull' once the charger cable is right next to the back of the watch? It should be strong enough to stay in place by itself. Also check that the connections on the charger end and back of watch are clean.
Failing that, dodgy charging cable? There are 3rd party Ionic charging cradles available that allow the watch to sit on it. But make sure it's the charger at fault first and not the watch.

Thank you for the quick reply.
the charger does get attracted to the watch when close by but just by laying it down on a table it gets pulled away slightly. With your comments and this, I’m reasoning the magnet must have gotten weaker. I can try to clean the connections some and if that doesn’t work I can try the holder. I’m pretty sure it’s the charger because when I firmly press it to the watch, it shows it is charging.

I have the same problem. I have to fiddle around with it every time I need to charge to get the contact to hold. Taking the watchband off is required. It was dodgy to begin with - I've had my Ionic since December - but it's been getting progressively worse. Drives me crazy.

Yes, I had the same problem. In my situation, some gunk had built up around the contacts on the back of the watch which was preventing good contact. I used a eyeglass screwdriver to gently clean around the contacts so the charging cable would connect. It’s working fine for me now.

I had this problem as well. I had to clean around the perimeter of the three charging contacts on the back of the watch. This makes sure that the charger cord fits tightly to the contacts in the recessed area. I used a needle to clean out the debris. After cleaning, it charged with out having to mess with it.

I am having the same problem having to fiddle with the connection every time to make it work - and you never know if it is actually charging. And you don't want to check because that might break a good connection. So you wait and hope and then go without it if it didn't charge. Extremely frustrating. I have tried cleaning the connection (I have to do this every time) and that helps but I still have to fiddle for up to several minutes.
I have had half a dozen fitbits over the years and every single one has been great but with one or two significant very frustrating problems - sometimes its a watch band that breaks or won't stay latched, other times it doesn't stay connected with my phone or needs a regular reboot. I love the accuracy and features of the ionic but it is incredibly frustrating that after all these years whey would release a watch that can't connect to its charger.
