It is 10° here, wind chill 0°. Just went for a 3 mile run. My Ionic died at 2.80 miles ( fully charged). Is this normal? I had the Surge the past 2 winters and never had this problem. Help!

@Rodys Welcome to the Fitbit family! That is strange. Ionic's operating temperature is: -4° to 113° F. Have you experienced this again in cold weathers? Did it totally died or were you able to turn it on back again? Also, were you using the exercise app to track your exercise? and, what kind of exercise?
I recommend performing a restart on your Ionic. That should certainly help you out if that keeps happening to you.
Keep me posted!

Well, I thought it was cold in VA, LOL! I went out exercising two days ago and the weather was in the 10-18 degree zone. I had the Ionic running in GPS and Music, but I will add that the Ionic was underneath the sleeve of my coat for most of the trip. I did not have any issues with it and all was normal.
Good catch on your part, hope it was a one time "FREEZE UP", no pun intended! Stay warm out there!

Was it battery expiration or quitting the workout? I've had one GPS workout quit without warning and the Ionic reset itself, but it didn't expire my whole battery.

I had the same issue this past Sunday and it was only 22 degrees. I started my Ionic for a hike and a few miles later it was completely off and wouldn't restart for a while. Will this be a common thing for this Ionic because I have never experienced it before with my Charge HR.
Thank you

I live in WI and run with my watch in -15 and such every morning. I leave it tucked under my sleeve a little and not had problems. I was worried I would since my phone definitely would never make it more than 15mins in that cold. I had to always leave it up against my skin to use body heat from freezing out the battery.

I've been having troubles with my bluetooth connection to headphones diminishing over my GPS tracked run. After about 20-30 mins the connection would get so weak that the music was cutting out so frequently I had to turn off the music. Before that it would work perfectly. This was happening almost everyday.
However, this morning the connection worked perfectly. I couldn't get it to skip by even covering the watch and placing it behind me. The only difference in situations was that it was 20 degrees warmer this morning. Yesterday it was still above the recommended operating temps I've seen somewhere of -4 F but not by a lot so maybe this issue for myself could be tied to temperature. I will continue to monitor. The next few days will be warm so I can test this more.
But potentially this is a side effect of using the watch in cold weather.

I had a similar experience this morning. My first run with my iconic. 35 degrees outside, using the exercise app for running with GPS and also playing music. First it stopped and seemed to reset itself. I had to start the exercise app and music again this was about 2 blocks into my run then at about 1.5 miles the watch just quit. Couldn't turn it on at all. I got home and synced it to my computer and it came on. I had 58 percent battery. No idea what happened but it was very frustrating. I just got it and am thinking of returning it.

It seems the Fitbits are crap in cold weather - mine is a year and a half old and went out in -4C and it crapped out - I let the battery run down and tried to recharge it - no go! piece of crap - will NEVER buy another one.
