I have had my ionic for 18 days. Apart from the ridiculous WiFi setup and it regularly failing to update the app properly with GPS watch only runs (unless I completely uninstall and then reinstall the iOS app each time) I’ve been happy with my ionic. I’ve come from an Apple Watch 2nd gen and wanted something to track my progress in getting fit.
1.Yesterday from a starting point of 60% battery the watch suddenly died whilst I was wearing it. Upon attempting to restart it (two buttons) it wouldn’t start so I connected it to power - the watch said the battery was dead (red flashing battery icon)
2. The app still showed 60% so I unpaired it (following the instructions)
3. It restarted and said “Data not cleared, sync and try again” - or something similar
4. I deleted the app, ensured no connections to the watch on my phone (in app or iOS Bluetooth) and attempted to start over
5. Despite the data not cleared error it seemed to start pairing ok but then said it needed to be updated
6. Attempts to complete this fail because the battery is still 0%.
7. Tried leaving it to charge overnight... still 0%
8. Tried every “solution” on this site and still no joy
i am planning on returning it to the shop I bought it from today, just thought I’d post this as a last ditch attempt to revive it before I have go out to get rid of it. Really disappointed in the product and it’s inherent complexity, for something that should be simple. Now have to consider alternatives.

I’ve replaced my ionic for a new one - only option. If it happens again I’ll be back to the Apple Watch as reliability and synchronisation with Apple Health is a deal breaker for me. When anyone asks me if I’d recommend Fitbit, sadly, despite its many positives, I have to say no.
Good luck everybody and I hope the replacement ionic serves me many years, ever the optimist!

I should add, when it appears to connect and sync (with the charging cable in) the battery status indicator just shows a flashing red "low" at the bottom of the battery icon. I doesn't show a progressively charging green indicator like it did before.
