Defective Ionic

Very unhappy with the quality, poor workmanship and extremely poor customer

service regarding Ionic and Versa.

 

We spent over $1100 on 12/24/2018 on Fitbit Devices and $200 on 3/17/19.

 

Since then 2 Ionics have shown to be defective and the Versa we purchased on 3/17/19 was defective as well. 

 

To summarize thats $700 in devices that suddenly stopped working with one showing 100k steps a day that had to be returned. 

 

The Versa was replaced however the two Ionics were issued RMAs and after 16-21 days are still showing “in transit” with Fed Ex with both being shown to be delivered on 7-10-2019 after shipment was made on 6-25 and 6-22 respectively from NJ to California. 

 

First and foremost these are $225 watches that proved to be defective due to poor quality workmanship and did not even last 6 months before they suddenly failed, overheated and caused a burn while wearing only to be given excuse after excuse and being continually told the “Fitbit team is hard at work to replace our devices” when 2.5 weeks later they have done nothing but blame the courier Federal Express with whom

they contracted to handle their RMAs with the lengthy 3 week return to their facility to replace $450 in defective devices due to poor manufacturing. 

 

We were recommending these to everyone prior to the first device needing replacement but now that 3 of 5 devices need replacement within 2-5 months of purchase and the subsequent poor customer service following unless we get an apology and assurance that the issues causing the manufacturing defects have been resolved along with immediate replacement of our devices we are done with this company and are ending our time using Fitbit and switching to Apple.

I have the tracking receipts for both devices en route to Fitbit. I can’t imagine how Fitbit uses a contract with FedEx yet it takes 17-21 days to go from NJ to California in 2019. 

I would have happily overnighted the damaged devices for $20 rather than be without them for 4-6 weeks when they cost us upwards of $500 and mine is needed for insurance and health reasons following surgery. These devices are made in China and probably cost under $15 to manufacture so when they charge people upwards of $200 for a device they have plenty of room to send multiple replacements in the warranty period. That being said we have many Apple Products including multiple iPads iPhones IPods and computers and all have lived well past their warranty period and the two times

we had issues both devices were fixed or repaired same day.
