Sometimes my Ionic does not auto recognize a walk so I have to manually add it which I had to do today. It was only a 30 minute walk at 3.5 speed but when it populated the walk it showed a calorie count of 768 which is ridiculously high for my height and weight so I deleted it thinking I could just re-enter it with an estimated step and calorie count based on prior history. Well the stupid thing deleted all my active minutes, steps and calories for that time. Before that happened I had exeeded all my goals for today, even my notifications show that I had but now it shows me short on everything. Why did it do that and can I get it back somehow? Frustrating!

Hi @SAgirl,
Yes, I've experienced the same thing. Manually adding an activity will wipe out the steps, active minutes, etc. that were originally there during the same time period.
The two things I know of that we can do for this are:
1. Track walks manually with the Exercise apps.
2. Forget the tracking, and know that during a walk that isn't automatically detected, the steps, calories burned and active minutes will be awarded that day anyway. It just wouldn't show up in the activities list.

Hi, @SAgirl, while manually adding an activity will overwrite what Fitbit detects during the same time period, deleting your manual activity log will restore all the information (so technically it isn't overwritten, simply suppressed).
Try deleting your manual log and you will see that your active minutes, steps and calories return.
I am not sure why your walk was detected at an unusually high (for you) calorie burn -- it's likely that the HR detection was too high. As long as you did not use that info to eat a lot of donuts (!) you might find you have a better record just by deleting your manual activity.

Hi @WavyDavey,
I’ve discovered that the only time I have issues with auto detect activity is when I’m messing about with my music whilst walking (I’ve not tried auto detect with any other activity yet). Maybe it’s a coincidence, we’ll never know unless enough people say they have the same problem. The only reason why I don’t like using the excercise function when I walk is because I can’t change playlists during the activity. Yes, I suppose I could just suck it up and listen to one playlist only, but where’s the fun in that? :).

Hi @Julia_G. From what I’ve read on other threads you’re supposed to be able to isolate a block of time in your activity minutes and assign a specific activity to it, which I’ve done before but I’ve never noticed it “adjusting” the minutes or calories until this time. I did delete the manual entry and it ended up deleting the entire block of time, active minutes, calorie count and steps I had associated with the walk, so basically my activity graph shows a blank period of time. I also thought that it would restore what was there before but no info returned even though I’d gotten notifications about meeting my goals for the day prior to mucking about with it. Hopefully this was just a glitch.
