Device battery life not lasting

I have had a new fitbit Ionic bought me for xmas. Out of the box it charged perfectly up to 100%. However, it lost all it's battery on Xmas day in 8 hours without me doing anything special.

I have been all over this site, recharging my phone, restarting my phone to factory, and to no avail

.I have then been in touch with fitbit online support. Despite me already doing this, they have made me recharge to 100% and drain it down to 0 % twice. Each time taking 9 hours, again with no extras added.

It was a Xmas present off my Father who is currently in hospital unable to let me know where receipt is. 

I have done everything asked of Me. I am not after a new one,, just a replacement battery put in. It has practically ruined Xmas and if I had known I would never have asked for one.
