Device not turning on

I had a Fitbit Ion replaced around My or June 2019. I went abroad and it would not sync its time regardless of what I did based on instructions read. It seems that it has simply not been able to sync at all with my phone at all during this time. Last night I went to recharge the Fitbit and again tried to sync it. It normally eventually shows what I did during the day, but again, it never changed time. Now I see that it never formally recognised syncing since June. In any case when I went to retrieve the Fitbit it turned itself off and now I cannot restart it at all. Curious about what my options are.

Hello @Fpadro, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and the details that were shared in your post. To better assist you with this, can you please let me know if the heart rate sensors are flashing or is your device completely unresponsive? If you haven't already done so, I recommend you to check our help article: Why isn't my battery charging on my Fitbit device? and let me know how it goes. Such article includes a restart process which can be really helpful for this situation.

Let me know if you have any additional questions, I'll be here.

Hi RicardoFitbit,

To quote Scotty from Star Trek, "It's dead, Jim." It simply will not start. Yes, there is a light pulsing near the sensors; however, there is no way it starts following the instructions I have read, including those you were kind enough to send to me to review.

Cheers

Your update is appreciated @Fpadro, sorry for the delayed reply.

Thanks for the details that were shared with me, certainly your Ionic isn't working as the way it was designed. That said, since the steps from my previous post didn't resolve your concern, please try the following steps and let me know how it goes:

  1. On the device, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
  3. When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
  4. Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
  5. When the device successfully resets, please use the normal out of the box process of updating the firmware. You can check: How do I update my Fitbit device? for more details.

Take in consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

Keep me posted. 🖖
