I realize you are not Planning on integrating with Dexcom, but could you remind your CEO of the comment he made in regards to the collaboration with Dexcom? Stocks went up 10% that day. Sept 7, 2017

Your only hope is to buy an Apple Watch. Expensive but well worth it. It has changed my life!

Is there a way to return my ionic for a full refund? I've also purchased this in Q4 2017 with the press release announcing compatibility in 2018 . As 2018 comes to a close I feel duped! I purchased a product with a feature that seems to be nothing more than a ploy for sales. I use the G6 and I'm afraid I'm not willing to wait more than one year for something Android watches and apple watches can do right now!

Ditto! I am in the same boat. This false promise adversely affected my and other people’s health. The least they could do is refund it. I was happy with my Samsung and previous FitBit and only bought Ionic for this single reason. Big mistake in hindsight, but it was on the investor website! Duped!

Many Diabetics purchased the FitBit Ionic, based on press releases and information stating that it would be compatible with Dexcom by the end of 2018, and now you state it isn't even in development? I bought my Ionic in the Spring of 2018, and could have returned it within 90 days (retailer offered a longer return period), but I kept the watch, solely because of the promise to integrate by the end of 2018. This is the ONLY reason I bought it. I had a charge 2 that did everything I needed for exercise.

This is false advertising, and I want a refund. Who do I call?

I agree with you... "false advertisement"

Just to set expectations, they will quietly remove this post at some point because of the obvious point you made—based on my experience. 😞

Fitbit has promised this feature more than once. In addition to the press release linked in a previous comment, here's one from the middle of 2018. This one doesn't even have the "forward looking statements" disclaimer, it just says that the Dexcom feature will be available in the second half of 2018.

This is really unimpressive, Fitbit.

Hello,

I've had a bit of free time over the holidays and, since #WeAreNotWaiting, wrote a sample watch face that displays CGM data from DexCom. You can find the entire source code for DexFit, as well as instructions for applying it to your Ionic or Versa in the DexFit GitHub repo.

DexFit in ActionDexFit in Action

Four important notes:

1. DexFit must not be used to make medical decisions. More information is available in the user agreement.

2. A phone is still required. This project does not provide a direct link between the Dexcom transmitter and the Ionic/Versa. Maybe some day Fitbit and Dexcom will make it happen...

3. I intentionally left the visuals of the clock face as basic as possible. This project showcases the capabilities of the companion code by fetching the blood glucose levels and sending them to the watch, rather than leveraging the visual capabilities of the watch.

4. If you decide to add visuals or publish a complete watch face, please share the results and link back to the DexFit project. Together, we can build awesomeness.

This is great - #WeAreNotWaiting, indeed. Thank you for sharing this. I haven't looked at the code yet (and might not understand it if I did, but I'll try.) Are you able to get BG values directly from the Dexcom app somehow and send them to the Versa? I've seen other options like the Glance and Marclock watchfaces that can get the values on the Versa but only by using Dexcom Share and Nightscout. I'm currently using that setup with Glance, and it's great, but kind of silly that it's necessary for the data to go from my phone into the cloud, back to the phone, and then to the watch on my wrist. If it could just stay on the phone and then be sent to the watch, that'd be even better.

Ideally, data would flow over Bluetooth LE from the G6 transmitter directly to the watch (scenario: swimming, no phone). Fitbit and Dexcom need to both work together to make this one happen.

Slightly less impressive, data would flow from the transmitter, over Bluetooth LE to the phone, then directly to the watch (scenario: hiking, have phone, no internet). If Dexcom allowed access to the data on the phone, it might be possible to ingest that data into the Fitbit companion (maybe through a loopback "web"service) and from there to the watch.

The scenario that this code addresses is much less impressive, while still powerful. Similarly to Glance, this project uses the Dexcom Share pipeline. In theory, it could use the Nightscout approach as well... The data flows from the transmitter, over Bluetooth LE to the phone, over the internet to Dexcom's data store, down to the phone via the Dexcom Share endpoint, then over to the watch via the Bluetooth connection.

Getting the data on my wrist was a huge leap forward. For me, CGM was two or three orders of magnitude more effective than finger blood draws (have no data here, just sharing my anecdotal observations). Seeing CGM data on the watch added another order of magnitude to the "have data, will manage my diabetes" dimension.

Best of luck!

Anyone have luck returning their Ionics because of the false advertising?

@Gosh1976

I actually created a fitbit dexcom app and watch face to monitor your glucose levels.

I'm not associated with Dexcom, but in the time being it is something that you could use!

You can find it on my website: https://hunterwatchco.com/category/random/

I hope you like them! Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns that you may have!
