Display/Screen glass not Central on a slight slant

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

As title just on my third day and really getting to like, thought I had a battery issue but with app but that is now sorted.

what I have noticed and I noticed something when I first switched on is the screen is slightly off centre on a slant I mean most people would probably not see it but when you look closely the glass edge there is a gap on each side and sort of tilting to the right its only ever so slight but once to see it noticeable most of the time.

not sure what to do anyone else have the issue ?

thanks in advance

Yes mine is similar to what you describe.

This is already my 2nd device. The first one had some weird back light issue, like a flare across the screen. It does seem the build quality could be better for the price range of this device.

thanks for the reply.

looking at some of the review units on google they seem to be the same its is ever so slight but for a £300 smartwatch I think it should be better quality.

Slant glass install  is for the sweat to slide off when you are working out.

I would not be able to handle that but especially so at this price!

@jedifozzie1 It’s like a picture hanging on the wall that is not level. That would drive me crazy.

I wish you hadn't said that lol 😂 as little things like this bug me. Can't believe not one of the the Fitbit mods have been in contact  about it must be acceptable for a £300 watch. Not sure what to do as other owners have noticed and when you look at a couple of review models they have the same issue.

Just wondering if the many issues people are having what the statistic is on pre ordered ones VS store bought ones like mine.

My thoughts are maybe they were rushing to supply pre orders hence why so many bugs and issues.

I just looked at mine and it looks fine. I bought mine 2 days ago at a Best Buy store.

I bought mine from Very (online retailer)pre order, but I believe they where shipped directly from Fitbit. Its not to bad it's just I did notice as soon as I switched it on and my only concern is if I return i could get one the same. I really like the watch as I have moved over from apple watch. Series 2 and my only gripe is the the quality its not bad just could be that little bit better.

I can't say I noticed the issue on my first faulty unit, I can't check it now though as I've sent it back. I noticed it pretty much instantly on this unit. I don't think all units will display the problem, but there's certainly the potential for more as the glass is slightly smaller then the aluminium frame, so there is room for it to be placed in at a slight angle.

I think I'll be sending mine back. I'm just trying to work out if it's worth the risk and my time getting a 3rd replacement or just asking for a refund.

Everything on the screen looks crooked, once you see it you then see it every time you look at it. Definitely not something I'm willing to settle for at this price point.

Its a shame though as I do really like the Ionic.

Right just to update.

I decided to go out this morning and purchase another Ionic from Argos. As far as I can see this one is perfect or as close as. I'm certainly much happier now. I tried to use the other device over the past day but the issue was just too much of a distraction for me, even my girlfriend could see it so it wasn't just me seeing things. Like someone mentioned, think of a crooked painting or picture hanging on the wall!! I also figured the screen is a big part of this device especially when apps are available. For that reason I decided it wasn't something I was comfortable settling for.

I've sent an email to customer support requesting a full refund on the replacement they sent, and also included a link to this thread. This is definitely a quality control issue and not all devices suffer from it.

Like they say, third time lucky. Well seems to be so in my case Smiley Happy

Cheers for the update, is the one from Argos completely straight and due to the size of the screen there must be a gap?

Yep, looks pretty straight to me. It's hard to get a picture as the screen is curved but it looks spot on through my eyes. I'm definitely much happier with this one.  As they say, she's a keeper!

Yes there is a slight gap along the top, but I have no worry about that. As long as what I'm looking at is straight then I'm happy. I did notice on the crooked one that in a pitch black room I could see some light coming through the gap. Well I've tested this new one in a dark cupboard and no light at all coming through. Hopefully I can now enjoy my Ionic.

The other one is already boxed up and waiting to go back, hopefully that will be a smooth process. So far I can't fault fitbits customer support, just waiting to hear back from them.

I've been a fitbit customer for a long time, owning four different generations of tracker. So I was very keen to stay with Fitbit Smiley Very Happy

Made the decision and ordered a replacement was going to try and live with it but for £300 it needs to be right, fingers crossed this one is ok.

Where did you order the replacement from if you don't mind me asking? Also have you managed to set up a return for the defective one? I haven't heard back from customer support yet, but they are usually good.

I agree, fitbit are charging a premium price so it needs to be a premium product.

Yeah no problem ordered again from Very as i regularly get decent discount codes off them. There where no local Argos,Curry's with stock they had a 4 day wait .

I should have my replacement by Saturday.

Hopefully it's a later production run and should be ok .
