For some reason I can never use the normal features in Ionic.
Software update => no vibrations => reset/delete verything, install everyhting ok => vibrations again.
Now I wanted to test a new feature (for me it's new), I wanted to add music to my Ionic. Of course that doesn't work as you want it to work. After googling, I found a TON OF PEOPLE HAVE ALSO ISSUES WITH THIS FOR YEARS. Given solutions are, surprisingly, almost the same when you lack vibrations.
The only thing I've not read was: install your sh*t all over again. This Ionic cost quite a lot, while several important features gets broken after an update or just don't work.
Anyway, to come back on topic: The music just doesn't want to sync. Everytime I eventually established connection with wifi, and I try to sync the music, I lose connection.
The COMMON solution passed by help section or the moest moderator just doesn't work. For exaple see:
https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Ionic/How-do-I-download-music-to-Ionic/m-p/2794111/highlight/true#M6...
I have no intention in deleting again everything from fitbit, and then install it again with having just hopes on this feature to work. I'm getting quite frustrated that SO MANY PEOPLE log the same issues, and the usual replies are the ones you can get from the help section. Maybe it's a real bug? Maybe look into it? Dp you guys/devs have a testlab, with all sorts of devices and OS's? Because I'm starting to think this Fitbit is just one big flop. Just search on this issue for 2018, it's hilarious how many people log this issue, and for how many people this isn't solved. (same for the vibrations, fyi).
I'm a developer as well, and when wee get logs from so many users telling the same issue. We look i to it, and we fix whatever sh*t code has been written by us. This is common sense!
After this rage text, I ask you kindly to come up with a decent explanation why some features lack the simplicity of just working normal, instead of following a bunch of rules, before you could try to even get it to work. And then noticing it just doesn't work. Jeezes christ.

@Hellfig may I ask if your trying to add personal music from the computer or one of the streaming services.
Do you get any errors? Is the ionic plugged in and charging?
As for years with this issue, it was only 16 months ago that Fitbit released a tracker that could store music.

I was quite frustrated.
Anyway, phone, pc and Ionic were plugged in a charger.
The moment transferring takes to long, I lose wifi connection (or so it seems).
Twice, of all attempts, I've been at the UI which allows you to add playlist. I've added one, but immediately after it says it can't sync due to no connection. When I checked my ionic everything seems to be ok. Yet, no music.
Basically everything says it's ok. Even wifi connection has been established, after deleting the old one. Yet, when I finanly have the possibility to sync, it says it says something as no connection. Fyi: sync of my stats do work on my phone and on my desktop app EVEN when the no syn/connection message appear on the music UI. Very strange if you ask me.
I've tried to reboot pc and the watch: No success. I've deleted the device from the bluetooth list: no succes. Whatever I try, I can't seem to sync/transfer music on the watch

Welcome to the Community @Hellfig! Thanks for sharing the inconvenient you have when trying to download your music to your Ionic. I'm sorry to hear that you feel frustrated as you have had many issues, and I appreciate all the steps you did trying to find a solution. All the details provided are also really helpful. I will recommend you to check on the Wifi connection, maybe restarting the router will help, and also to follow the steps on the article: Why can't I download music and podcasts to my Fitbit watch?
I hope this helps, please keep me posted.
@Rich_Laue Thanks for your cooperation!

Feel your pain and frustration. That is the worst implementation in my experience to sync music to a device. We use both Android drag and drop via cable connect -> plus Apple iTunes cable connect. Transfers happen in a couple of minutes at most for say 4 GB. Fast and easy and consistent with no problems or disconnects. Ever.
Now Fitbit with WIFI transfer is problematic inconsistent and dead slow. Say 2 hours for 2 GB. That is ridiculous but it is what it is. Am always scared to add or change any playlists as it wipes and re-loads from scratch. Too bad the charge cable cannot do this data transfer.
Found that if you check on the App the WIFI is grayed out. If you put in your WIFI passcode again it will sometimes connect the WIFI fresh -> then sync to transfer music. But have never determined for sure what method consistently works. Just cross my fingers and try not to sync any other music once some is stored in there. So silly as this should not be so difficult as WIFI seems to time out -> then disconnect. The spinning ball of death should not ever happen. But it happens much too often.
Someone in Tech Support should figure out some code to get this to work without frustration or risk. One time it deleted what was on there and would not sync up again. Felt like throwing the Ionic out the door at that point.
Now just jump for joy when it does connect and starts syncing. Sometimes feels like winning the music lottery jackpot. Haha. Do like the watch though even tho it crashes and re-boots at random. Surprising but true. Makes you appreciate it when it behaves.

Hi, thanks for the feedback.
Nevertheless like I mentioned before I already tried the steps you can google/find in the help section.
I even pasted a link, where a mod was exactly copy-pasting the help section...
And again: It does not work.
Above all there's nothing wrong with my router. I also tried to turn down devices just in case my router would have had to many connections, even though it should be able to coop with it.
My watch does get WIFI connection, and it stays like that. But when the app tries to transfer music, all of the sudden it loses connection. When that happens, establishing WIFI connection is sometimes only possible by rebooting the watch...

That's how I feel when a new update comes out 😞 Or when I'm trying out a new feature. Always something that goes wrong. Usually it ends up in rebooting the watch and/or reinstalling the app etc.
Frustrating. Above all comments/help you get are like I mentioned in my first post, and the last post: More or less copy-pastes from the help section.
Good old slogan would just fit here perfectly:
It's not a bug, it's a feature!

Yeah understand about the canned link response solutions you refer to. They are very very basic same old stuff. The Tech Support guy I initially talked to could not get my Jabras to work. But I happened to figure out how to re-boot them while on the call. That got me “solved”. But later there were disconnects again -> so decided to do a full re-install to new. That worked and is still working.
The Jabras just came out recently and are 5.0 -> plus allow dual simultaneous connections. That may have confused the Ionic bluetooth connection. Not 100% sure but that might have been part of it. The Tech Support were stymied until I told them how I got it going. Still it should be looked at and code corrected so others do not run into this issue.
I did find out today my first 2.0 Plantronics will simply not pair to the 4.0 Ionic. All my others work ok well enough incl Beats and JBL. But had another crash today while doing spin intervals with my 4.0 Sony. After my first set the Ionic randomly re-booted and that data was lost. It did work ok after that. So frustrating yes -> as this sort of crash simply should not ever happen.
Def yes there are “stability issues” that Tech Support must solve quickly moving forward if they want to retain brand loyalty.
So kinda understand “It’s not a bug, it’s a feature” comment. My perspective is that the Ionic is like a petulant child. Kinda like a spoiled brat who can be very polite at times. Whereas our Apple products the inverse -> as almost always now very polite and obedient. Still do cry but not much comparably. Even all the way back to very early gen models.
