Error in Fitbit Android app? Fitbit Wallet "error connecting to Ionic"

I wanted to add a new credit card to Fitbit Pay, but my android app is not allowing me to do so. As soon as I enter the "fitbit wallet" on my phone I get the "Error connecting to Ionic. Make sure it is close by and turned on."

This is very strange, as the Ionic syncs just fine to my phone, and I am able to do stuff like install and update apps without issues. It's only the Fitbit Wallet screen that says there's a problem. There is a "Try Again" button, which does nothing, the error shows again immediately (so it doesnt seem like it is really trying to connect, why would the error appear instanteneously?)

Is this a known issue?

I've tried rebooting both phone and watch, it doesn't make any difference.

Are you sure that your credit card(the bank) is supported?

Thanks for trying to help, but you didn't understand the issue. This is the issue: Screenshot_20190801_142628.jpg

The error message at the bottom of the screen.

Has nothing to do with the card. I did a workaround by adding the card from a PC instead, but I would still like to know why the app fails to connect to the fitbit ionic on this screen only.

Update: The app was indeed the issue. Completely uninstalling the app from the phone, including deleting all temporary files, and then reinstalling the app from Google Play seems to have fixed the issue.

It also fixed another issue I was having with Notifications not working.
