I have a new Ionic. During the wallet setup I got as far as 'Checking for PIN' which eventually came to:
Error Registering Ionic with Fitbit Wallet.
HTTP 500.
I don't recall having set a PIN, so I went to Device Lock (which is currently disabled) at which point I receive exactly, word for word, the same error.
I'm using the original Google Pixel. I have restarted both the phone and the watch. This watch is giving me a headache...
Thanks for any help in advance.

I am also getting the same error. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I am using a Pixel 3. The system won't let me setup the PIN.

Exactly the same problem here, very frustrating. Tried everything, up to a factory reset. Nothing helps.

I have same issue. cant able to add wallet and having error checking for pin and Http error :50
I tried all things uninstalling, deleting device etc calling customer care too. They said there is no ETA for this issue to be resolved. I am going overseas and i took this watch 2 days back just so that i can use Fitbit Pay, so annoying. Anyone here can help resolving this issue.

I have the same issue on my old note 3, lineage os 14.1. I have tried everything, install-uninstall apps, reset phone, factory reset ionic, pair-unpair, wifi working on ionic, etc... Nothing helped. I see these errors: Error Registering Ionic with Fitbit Wallet or sometimes Error Registering Ionic with Fitbit Wallet HTTP 500, and please don't tell me it's becuase custom rom because i don't believe it.

I'd really appreciate input from Fitbit support here.
And before they mention "your device is not on the supported devices list": my phone is a Oneplus 6T (which is not on the list), but I also tried it with a Oneplus One (which is one the list).
Amazed on how buggy the Fitbit software is!!!

I have checked logcat, dmesg and event log from my phone but nothing unusual, but i am not that expert. I don't know if I can share the logs here on the forum to avoid disclosing info about fitbit device, fitbit app. etc.

How did you do this, as enabling device Lock generates same errr on my phone. I still can't enable device lock. (it shows disabled)

It also worked for me. Just redoing the same, over and over again. Suddenly it worked...

So far I've tried the following. Factory reset on the watch. Paired and upaired watch to another device. Uninstalled app, restarted phone then installed app again. I tried with wifi only by turning off the cell network and the with wifi off. Nothing working.
This morning on my way to work, I thought. I'll try to it again. Magically it worked. No rhyme or reason. It definitely seems like the error it with Fitbit and not with the device or the user.
I know in the past the Pixel does perform weird when it comes to using blue tooth. Right before I tried the wallet I received a call and a notification came through on the watch so I know it had just connected with blue tooth. More than likely just a coincident, but I mention it because I've had difficulty syncing to the smart lights in my house with my Pixel. However, with the lights I'm not using blue tooth so the connection is different.
Good luck.

It just worked this morning. Maybe they fixed it?
One thing that might help; the app was still syncing with the phone in background whilst it was 'setting up pin' this time. It might have worked because the phone managed to sync in the background at the same time as the setting up pin process.
Or it might have just worked.

Worked later as described in my second post.

I am not able to set up the wallet. On my phone, I click wallet and Get Started and it just says connecting. I can't get past this 😞 I have tried all of the troubleshooting that everyone has done but still the same issues. What can I do to get the wallet app working?
Thanks,
Gretchen
