Just curious to know that since the Ionic is equipped with GPS if you were to lose the watch, not just at home. Would you be able to track it’s location with a phone or a computer?

Accepted Solutions

There are apps on Google Play and the App Store to find your FitBit device but they all work on Bluetooth and not GPS, which will severely limit the area where the signal could be picked up to be of any use.

Okay I'll say what everyone's thinking.... stalker!

Just kidding lol. That's actually a good question, since it can be done on virtually all phones.

The watch itself would need to "transmit" the GPS information it is receiving. It has Bluetooth and WiFi capabilities. But you would need to lose the Ionic within range of something that will "listen" to it. (Either paired Bluetooth or connected WiFi network)

Findmyfitbit works nicely, but you need to be within about 50 feet of the tracker.

Now of you download the app ahead of time. Should the tracker get lost, this app will tell you when am where the phone lost cominocation

Surely the device should be able to be tracked by the device ID & GPS?

I don't understand why there isn't a service to search for the last report of the device, regardless of whether it is synced to your phone

Yes and know @lowdon , the device only turns on the GPS at the  request of the user,  and unless the ionic OS code enough to the phone it will not be able to combustibles with the Fitbit server.

Wyatt would work is if the lousy tracker could be flagged and have various phones with the Fitbit app ping for the device when it is close to the area of the last sync.

From your posts, I have the feeling that you think that GPS transmits, it does not.  It is a GPS receiver, as are the ones in phones, cars, etc.
For that received data to be seen elsewhere there needs to be a radio involved (phone, Bluetooth, etc.)

In short, unlike multiple misrepresentations on TV, you can't track a GPS.
