I had the same thing happen yesterday. It is completely dead. I tried resetting it, cleaning the contacts and everything. Nothing works.

Try a factory reset. If that doesnt revive it you will need to contact Support (link in my signature)

FACTORY RESET USING BUTTONS
On the watch, hold all three buttons for about twelve seconds. This triggers the 2-button hardware reboot after about eight seconds.
- When the Fitbit logo appears, then disappears, release the bottom right button, then continue holding the left and top right buttons until you feel a strong vibration. This indicates the factory reset was initiated.
- This process may take several seconds, and eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays go to Fitbit.com/setup.
- If you fail to release the bottom right button in time, or otherwise don't follow the procedure precisely, the Fitbit logo reappears quickly and boots without factory reset.

If the device turns on, please go back to the Fitbit app and setup your device back to your account with these steps. Make sure your watch is plugged into a wall plug or a computer, next to the router and that there are no other trackers or devices with Bluetooth on nearby when setting up.  Please log into your account, go to account on the upper right corner, there look for "setup a device" and tap on it. Follow the instructions on the screen and let the watch charge for 2 hours.

This did not work either. I am pretty disappointed when I see just how many people are having these same problems with their Fitbit watches. It seems like it is not a very reliable or good quailify product and I’m extremely disappointed. I already contacted Fitbit and received no response whatsoever.

I am so sick of trying to reset/restart my iconic! Why won’t the display just come on and stay on? It is the same problem over and over and over again with the same trite “solution”! Resetting the watch does not fix the issue. I just need to get an Apple Watch and leave FitBit alone. I have been having this exact same problem for over a year.

Please stop copying and pasting this as the “solution” to all FitBit problems. The problem is the manufacturer. The solution is taking your FitBit back to the store and getting an Apple Watch. I am extremely frustrated with FitBit and its support team.

The reset advice is worth posting; for some people it will actually be able to solve their problem!

Furthermore, for the many of us with suddenly dead $300 bricks *just* out of warranty (how convenient), it doesn't matter what anyone copy and pastes, because all we're doing here is shouting into the void.

Fitbit either pushed a catastrophically flawed new OS, or built a terrible piece of hardware (or both), and they have no interest trying to do right by their customers and own up to their mistakes. Over the years, it's become clear that they make so many mistakes that if they tried to take responsibility for all of them, they'd go out of business.

Anyway, if you're within the 12 month warranty, though, they should replace it - go to the live chat support, when I did that they were able to immediately troubleshoot and tell me my options.

However, the replacement Ionic does not come with a new warranty, so once *that* one dies in another year, you'll be SOL like the rest of us. Definitely worth squeezing a bit more life out of it though, if you can.

Good luck.
