Fitbit Ionic Not Turning On

Ok so my ionic has been fine up until a few days ago when I took it off charge to find that it hadn't charged at all it was totally dead and switched off as soon I unplugged it.

Then on the app I noticed it needed an update so managed to do that overnight while leaving it on charge but as soon as I unplugged it it went dead did a bit of googling and tried to restart it , ended up doing a reset but It can't reset it just comes up with a big red X saying data not cleared sync and try again. I contacted fitbit via live chat ( which is now not available  ) but they didn't know what we wrong with but and said they would email but they haven't . anyway as of this morning it won't charge at all even though it's plugged into the charger the red battery light is flashing . I just dont know whats wrong with it and no one seems able to help. Sorry for the long post.
