Fitbit Ionic Workout Mode Calorie Burn

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My husband got the Fitbit ionic and when he does a weights workout, it says he is burning over 700 calories in an hour. This seems WAY too high and we have looked into the BMR which looks correct. I don’t know if we are missing something, or if the workout mode shouldn’t be used when he’s at the gym.

Have you checked the HR readings for the workout exercise, do they make sense? Unfortunately there are sometimes issues, andwith weights and frequent wristbending especially one needs to be careful with tracker placement on the wrist to get 'correct' HR.

That said, 700kcal/hr is not excessive. 1000 is! That would be bootcamp. I would say 700 is firm but not unreasonable. I burn 700kcal/hr with rather brisk walking. On the elliptical I get 800/hr. Similar on the treadmill.
