I’m reading a lot of complaints on the Fitbit Ionic. I am looking into purchasing one, can someone please advise of what issue/s they have experienced?

I have had the worst experience with Fitbit Ionic! It takes forever to update there is constantly an update. I wake up and there will be 10,000 steps already logged when I haven't had the watch on and have been sleeping. I have to deal with customer service this weekend and I am dreading it. I wish I never bought this watch I have only been able to use it 5 total days and I have owned it for 7 months ! for the price I am unbelievably disappointed !

I called customer service. After asking me the same questions over and over, they finally decided to send me another Ionic. I’ve had the replacement for four months and it has worked fine. I believe the first release of this product was faulty. Call and get a replacement. They are aware of this problem.

I am into my 2nd Ionic in 11 months. The first one lasted hardly 9 months, the 2nd only 2 months. The first one suddenly never stopped counting steps even after multiple factory resets. The replacement does not charge anymore. Currently waiting for customer service to get back to be (the first version was replaced quickly).
When the Fitbit was working it was quite nice. GPS was good for tracking runs, rides and other activities (although with some random drop outs), synching got better as the firmware upgrades came through and measuring heart rate, steps, calories etc. was reasonably accurate.
The real issue is that the manufacturing seems to be poor as a lot of watches have issues.

yes you are right
they just ask to reset, if not working suggest a factory reset and also send some links on how to, any way these links are available on support page not a special support.
Everytime you raise an issue same support repeats.
For all problems one solution reset...

I have had the Ionic since Late 2017 and loved it. It has some glitches along the way, But Fitbit would send out an update every so often and the watch just kept getting better. That is up until 3 weeks ago when the problems started. I was in a challenge and eveyone was telling me to update my steps and my watch was counting my steps all day and syncing to my phone, But not to the challenge. Turns out after a couple days it turned out that at midnight when the watch cleared everything for the nextday it was also clearing the days before on the app and went back to Feb 4th which showed there was an update done then. I reset my watch and phone and started over like a new setup. Half way through the update on the watch it went black and can not do anything with it. Customer support says they could see online that I tried all of their suggestions and said there is nothing they can do except give me 40% off on a new one and free expedited freight. That is awesome except there is a lot of people having the same issues and Fitbit says it is not software related. I understand if it failed due to misuse or just happened to fail prematurely, But with so many people having the same problem in the same time frame and after an update should not make this the consumers responsilbility. My wife and I have been loyal to fitbit for quite awhile now and I will eventually go back to fitbit. So my recommendation to you is buy it and buy the extended warranty and have fun with it.

Then they can replace it. I’ve paid for a product that faults and they don’t want to know about it

I asked for a replacement. Ionic won't update, pulse monitor either reads zero or 50 points higher than it should, like 140 just sitting still. Because of that sleep statistics are non functional. This is my second Fitbit, I had s a bla that I have to a friend because I wanted to swim with the Fitbit. So all it does is keep time, and play music....through my $150 flyer headphones.....and they're answer was, a) it's not a medical device so if it doesn't work, no loss....and no the wouldn't replace it because I bought it when it first came out..so it's out of warranty. In other words now that they made $450 off me, they could care less. But they'd be happy to take an order for a new one I'd I wanted !!!!

Same with me....$150 flyer + $280 Ionic. Frustation to say a minimun.
I gave up on trying to understand why hundred of complaints without a reasonable explanation.;-(
