Fitbit Ionic not playing music properly

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello, I am trying to run music from my Ionic via a Bluetooth headset. The music is playing with a "break" every 5 seconds. Not able to listen to music continuously. The "breaks" are extremely irritating and ruin the rhythm of running.

My Bluetooth headset is not pairs with any other device.

Plz help, since on-board music was a key reason for choosing ionic.

Try to use the Ionic on the hand that your bluetooth head set has the receiver. For example, my bluetooth headset has the receiver on the left, so I use my Ionic on the left hand.

If that still doesn't do the trick, unpair and pair your bluetooth headset with you Ionic.

Thanks Omerta. It worked fine for 5 minutes, and then it is back to the original state - with a stoppage every 3 to 4 seconds.

Tried unpairing and the pairing back as well, but that to didn't work.

What brand and model of bluetooth headset do you use?

If this just started happening recently, then it's very likely to be a Bluetooth connectivity issue.

  • Turn the headphones off (if you have an option to manually do so).
  • On the Ionic, go to Settings > Bluetooth and remove the headphones.
  • Restart the Ionic by pressing and holding left+lower right buttons for about 10 seconds.
  • Go back to Settings > Bluetooth and tap on Add device.
  • Pair the headphones and try to play music again.

It's very important that you continue to follow @Omerta's suggestion of wearing the Ionic on the same side in which your headphone has the receiver.

If this situation has been going on since the first time that you paired the Ionic and the headphones, then there's a chance that they're not going to do well at all.

Thanks @Lufalulz@ and@Omerta for the reverts... I have tried all that both of you suggested but nothing has changed...Did the unpairing of headsets and restarting of ionic numerous times... also have placed the ionic on same side as headset receiver... But issue still persists

Feeling letdown by ionic since music on the run without mobile phone was the main reason for buying ionic - the second main reason being the GPS...

Any other suggestions...

Try another pair/brand, maybe with others will work as it should. I use JBL and I'm lucky that they have the bluetooth receiver on the left, so I can wear my Ionic on the left hand.

That's what I was afraid of. When things start going south since the very beggining then there's a chance that they were not compatible at all (which shouldn't be the case because, come on, those are just BT headphones...)

Anyways, glad to see that you'll be able to try a different set of headphones.

Prior to purchasing my Ionic I was aware of the reviews saying that the Bluetooth streaming music function was not very good. Well that was an understatement as it is absolutely useless, when playing it skips about every 5 seconds. I assume that Fitbit are fully aware of this problem and are choosing to do nothing about it, maybe someone from their organisation will be monitoring this forum. Had I realised how bad it was going to be I would not have spent £249 on an Ionic, I would have purchase something from one of their competitors. My Ionic is paired with the Samsung Gear IconX wireless ear buds that work perfectly well with any other device that I pair with them.

Hello @SunsetRunner, thank you for your inquiry and welcome to the Community forums.

I'm sorry to see what you've been having trouble with the music function. If you haven't done so already, the steps listed below have also helped other users who have experienced something similar:

Also, do you have your headphones connected to both your Ionic and your phone?

Keep me posted.

I have tried both the steps suggested and it has made absolutely no
difference. Yes my ear buds are paired to both my phone and my Ionic.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply @SunsetRunner, have you also tried changing the wrist where you wear your Ionic, in a way that is closer to the Bluetooth receiver of your headphones? Also make the device has at least a 25% battery level for a better performance.

Keep me posted.

I bought my fitbit ionic a week a go and got my gear iconX today. I've been trying to play music from my ionic. I am able to pair them, however whenever I tried to play music from ionic it stops every 2-3 sec and it's annoying. It doesn't happen when I play music via my hand phone. I unpaired, restart and repair, but the same problem.

Welcome to the Community forums @Khup, it's good to see you around for the first time.

Thank you for confirming that you already tried to unpair, restart and repair your Fitbit Ionic. Could you please also confirm if you've also tried changing the wrist where you wear your Ionic, so it's closer to the Bluetooth receiver of the gear icon X? Is the the other Bluetooth device in your pocket, or close enough to the Ionic?

Also make the device has at least a 25% battery level for a better performance.

Please keep me posted.

Hi there, unfortunately I never ever managed to resolve this issue. I done all the unpair, pair and reset stuff as recomeneded and none of it made any difference.
I am convinced that every Fit Bit Ionic must be the same, absolutely useless at streaming music using bluetooth and I can’t believe that Fit Bit have done nothing about it.
I wish that I had never bought the Ionic especially as the Samsung watch was launched just a few months after I purchased it and I am sure that the Samsung watch will be a better product.
If you ever find a solution to this I would be grateful if you could let me know.
Maybe you should exchange it under warranty and see if the replacement does the same, I kind of suspect that it will.
I think that mine is out of warranty.

Hi! I'm having a similar issue, except that my ionic won't play music from my Bluetooth earbuds at all ( it will from a Bluetooth speaker, though). I've tried restarting, unsyncing and resyncing but still no change. Please help! I'm disappointed to read that so many others are having the same issue. I really hope that this is something that can be resolved! Thanks for your help!
