Fitbit Ionic not updating/installing apps - now black screen on my watch

My Ionic has had an 'Unable to install/update apps' message for about 3 weeks now. Whenever I go to the apps section on the IOS app it asks me whether I want to 'Continue installing?'. Currently the Wallet and Today just have the sliding bar going side to side but not actually installing them.

 

I am connected to wifi but nothing happening.

 

I then went onto a forum which said to try changing your watch face which worked for some other people. I tried changing mine and now the same thing is happening with my watch face on the app - sliding from left to right and now my actual watch screen is black - I can swipe right to get to the other apps but the time screen is black. Any ideas

I'd suggest to restart your ionic and please try to use a Fitbit clock face to see if this helps. How many apps do you have in your Ionic? Maybe you've reach the limit of apps as I have seen this error on that specific scenario. But I will check if we have more details about it. 

 

Please let me know if you have better results with those steps or we might have to check with our support team.

Hello,

 

I currently only have 8 apps on there at the moment. I just tried shutting it down and turning it on again but no change. 

 

I tried downloading a different Fitbit face too but just the bar going side to side again. It just can’t download/install anything. FYI it’s the today app and wallet that are not installing. 

 

Any other suggestions are appreciated

I am having the exact same problem. Only have factory installed apps on watch, no new ones. Have uninstalled app on iPhone and reinstalled. Have forgotten device from phone and installed several times. Doing a factory reset right now.

I'm glad its not just me, did you have any luck doing a factory reset? @FaeMae 

 

@YojanaFitbit  is there anything else we can do? Could it have been an update from apple that has thrown the app software off?

I’m having the exact same problems, performed the factory reset. Have restarted fitbit and phone, turned Bluetooth on/off, etc. Still am unable to install any ups or update, it’s stuck with factory apps.

Hi there,

 

there seems to be a consistent theme across the whole spectrum- the latest firmware update (which we HAVE to accept, otherwise the fitbit won't work) is making the Ionics crash and unworkable.  

 

Mine was fine till saturday when I accepted the process to do the firmware update.  disaster.

 

- I used all 3 buttons to reboot

- i placed fitbit and mobile and laptop next to router

- i spent about 4 hours running every permutation

- it appears that the firmware is downloading successfully to the mobile, but then at the end of the installation phase, I am left with a fit bit that has the logo as well as the "to begin, down load fitbit app" message in the 8-10 languages

- it is the same result with either wifi or bluetooth

- I am sure that this is a software/firmware issue....not a hardware issue

- currently screen is just the logo and there are no green lights on back

 

what do you advise- I have tried every trouble shooting link I can find

The same problem!

Unfortunately Fitfit support usually disappears after the first post, which if most of the cases useless.

I'd like you to make sure that your Fitbit app and Ionic are up-to-date. If they are, make sure you're following this procedure to update and install the apps, you might want to try installing one at a time. 

 

If you keep experiencing this, provide as many details as you can, this will help me to provide the appropriate troubleshooting.
