Fitbit Ionic not working

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My ionic died this morning.  I've had it on the charger for 6 hours, switched outlets and chargers and it will not power on.  I've tried the factory reset, I've tried all three buttons, I've tried to sync it, I've tried the left and bottom button, I've cleaned the sensors, absolutely nothing works.  I don't think the battery was even low enough for it to just die.  I just bought 10 bands for this thing last week and now I can't even use it bc it won't turn on.  I haven't even had it a year yet.

I agree, Mine screen has now gone completely blank, however, the data is still being logged to the pc application. Your are correct, once the seal has been compromised, it is done. I am calling customer service, since I am a loyal user and a big cheer leader. Good luck.

Oh no @IronMike2  I thought you were back up and running again! Fingers crossed they sort it for you! I was at such a loss without mine. I have been a traitor and moved to another brand I'm not allowed to name. Will see how long this one lasts. I hope you get your watch sorted.

Good for you! Hey, I am always interested in other workout products. My email is:  mward012@verizon.net  so please let me know how it works for you. Honestly, my Ionic really was driven into the ground by yours truely, however, to fitbit's credit, even though I have no screen, the data is being logged to the Fitbit application. I just got off the phone with the fitbit off shore order department, and now have another one being shipped out.Peace be with you,Iron Mike

Having the exact same problem. I don’t see anyone from Fitbit addressing those problem. Is this made in China?

Yes, this happened to me as well just now. I've had mine for just less than 2 years. Was working this morning, have not had battery problems, and now it's totally unresponsive. Was nearly full charged too. Black screen. Followed reset instructions multiple times and nothing. Not seeing the green light from the back sensor either.

What's going on here?

Ok, What happened to mine, the water proofness (sp?) has been compromised and has shorted out the circuitry. The strange thing about mine, the data is still being tracked correctly to the Fitbit application on my phone & pc. I have told the support people, however, I really am not expecting them to act on my behalf. I use & wear mine 24/7, 365 days a year and I bought it when the Ionic first came out. If they were smart the Fitbit Support should use me as their beta test guy. I use & really like their products. I live to workout, most people think I am crazy for working out, however, if only they knew how happy and productive they could be from the endorfins the hunman body creates when you excersise, they would join me on the exercise trail. Peace be with you & I hope you find a workable solution. Iron Mike

Use their help options.  Your watch is less than 12 months old and they will replace it.

I held all 3 buttons for what seemed long time,  maybe 20ish secs? 0% came up but didn't appear to be charging but in the hail mary approach I left it on the charger again rest of the early night and thru to morning...a good 12 hours and it was on,  charged 100%...2 days later seems to be working fine no issues thus far...I know a few posted may have had an addl issue with seal compromised...I didn't have that so hoping it is resolved... had my ionic since Nov 2017 so far so good with this one exception!! Good luck all!

DITTO............I've had it since March 2018.  Last night, it went black screen and nothing has worked.  I've tried different cables, different outlets, PC plugin, Reboot attempts...........its DOA, which is disappointing.  There are 3rd party places that can change the battery, and at this point the warranty is gone anyway, so I may take the plunge if the cost makes sense............

I had the same issue with my IONIC after about 5 months or so.  I suggest you open up a chat at Fitbit.com and start a replacement request.  If it is under a year, they will replace the watch for free.

Unfortunately, it's over two yrs old, so the warranty is KAPUT................

Follow up on my post. So...after trying multiple times to restart it or charge it or get it do respond, I put it down until last evening. On a whim, I plugged it in and...got the green diamond logo and then it just started to work again. It was like 12% charged or something like that. The clock was about off 8 hours until I synced it. Got up this morning and it's back to normal?

Given that electronic things seldom just fix themselves, I'm still wondering what's going on. Is this a sign that the battery is going? Don't know. Ideas?

Pushing the back button and lower right button for 15 minutes worked like a charm.  I had been charging it but it appeared totally dead.  Originally, I let the battery go completely dead.

My screen just glows, can't read anything, however, it is sending data to the fitbit app. I have ordered a replacement. It was one of the first ones on the market years ago. It has served me well till now. Good luck with yours. Iron Mike

Mine did the same exact thing months ago. Has never turned back on. Happened to two Fitbit Versas that I bought as gifts for people. So, 3 Fitbits and hundreds of dollars later and all of us have dead Fitbits and Fitbit has horrible customer service. Even though this is an issue it seems because of the last upgrade, they won’t do anything except give you money off of a new one. Done with Fitbit.

Following up my post about my dead Ionic..........left it charging at work for the morning yesterday.  Out of sheer curiosity, I went to restart it and BINGO..........startup logo, then phone screen..with 100% battery!  Interestingly, it didn't boot up on its own.  One of my issues was that I had push notifications disabled on my iPhone settings for some reason, so unless I was looking at the battery level on the watch, I didn't know it was at 0%.  Now i'll get heads up alerts to avoid this panic attack in the future...........

That is interesting. Thank you for sharing. I am patiently waiting for my new one while the Ionic on life support (no screen) continues to send the data to my fitbit app. IronMike2
