Fitbit Ionic time won't update

Howdy All,

I've got a FitBit Ionic whose time won't update after traveling to the Central timezone from Eastern. The Ionic constantly shows an hour behind, despite troubleshooting tactics.

In all cases, it seems the Ionic has connectivity to the app and syncs steps/sleep, etc, it's just that the time is off.

Firmware version: 27.33.1.30

Here are some steps I've already taken and synced after each change (ex. flipped "all day sync" off, synced, no change)

  • Flipped "all day sync" off and on
  • Flipped "always connected" off and on
  • Under "Account" > "Advanced Settings":
    • Flipped both "Automatic time zone" on and off
    • Flipped "Automatic location" on and off
  • Removed Ionic pairing from bluetooth and re-paired
  • Completely restored fitbit to factory settings, re-setup, and synced

Thanks,

Rob

Ah HA! I finally figured it out:

I went to the Fitbit.com website, instead of my phone app, into my account settings, and made the time zone change there. Once I synced, my Fitbit now shows the correct time!

Another thing to try, no guarantee, but sometimes works:

Set the time zone to something else wrong, sync, set back to correct zone and sync again.

Thanks for the suggestion, Johnny.

I set the time to another timezone, synced, the time didn't update, flipped back to eastern, synced, and the time still didn't update.

Make sure it has really been syncing.  Phone can be showing steps and a few other stats, just from bluetooth connection between phone and tracker without actually syncing.

To check last sync, click Account icon near to right of phone app, then right below Ionic, it says what time the last sync happened.

It says synced an hour and 1 minute ago (12:13pm), and when I sync again, it resets to an hour ago, telling me it's syncing, taking the hours' difference between my phone and the FitBit.

Since I hadn't mentioned it previously, my phone displays the correct time.
