Hi, My ionic does not start. Have charged it for hours, tried long press multiple times but no success. Mobile app is also not able to find the watch. A help to resolve would be greatly appreciated.

Try restarting it several times. If that doesnt work you will need to contact Support (link in my signature ) or return it to the store it was bought from.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @NellyG, hope you're doing great today! Thanks for restarting your Fitbit, nice way to go! Are you still having issues to set up your Fitbit Ionic?

If you can't get started with your Fitbit device, usually a missing requirement is the cause. If you're using the Fitbit app for iOS, Android, or Windows 10:

  • Note that you can't set up your Fitbit device from your phone or tablet's Bluetooth screen; you must open the Fitbit app and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Fitbit app needs to be updated (iOS, Android).
  • The software on your phone or tablet is up to date. To see if an update is waiting to be installed:
    • iOS—Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
    • Android—Tap Settings > About Phone or About Device > Android Version.
    • Windows 10—Tap or click Start > Settings > Update & security.
  • The Bluetooth setting on your phone or tablet is on. To find it:
    • iOS—Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
    • Android—Tap Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.
    • Windows 10—Click or tap Settings > Devices > Bluetooth.
  • (Android only) Double-check the following information about your phone or tablet:

If after checking the requirements you are still having issues paring your trakcer, try the troubleshooting steps below:

  1. Turn off Bluetooth on your phone; wait 10 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  2. Try setting up your device again.
  3. Restart your tracker.
  4. Try setting up your device again.
  5. If you can't set up after a restart, reboot your phone or tablet (turn it off and then back on).
  6. Try setting up your device again.
  7. If you can't set up after the reboot, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your phone or tablet.
  8. Try setting up your device again.
  9. If you can't set up after removing all other Fitbit devices, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Fitbit app.

Thanks for your help @NellyG

I did all you said!  Only crashed after last update: was losing 15mins/day.  Resulted in factory reset and now unable to load on pc or phone.  Only bought it Jan 18 and unable to locate receipt at this moment. 😞  Any more advice?

Hi @JacquiBee1, welcome in here! Thanks for following our tips and recommendations.

This usually happens when you performed a factory reset without before unpairing the device. Usually you should unpair your Ionic, forget Bluetooth (both Ionic and Ionic (Classic)) and perform the factory reset. To solve this issue follow these steps (some of them you already tried, but let's cover everything):

  1. Unpair your Ionic.
  2. Unpair from Bluetooth both Ionic and Ionic (classic).
  3. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  4. Turn off the Bluetooth.
  5. Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  6. Turn on the Bluetooth.
  7. Setup your device again.
  8. If there is no connection, restart your Fitbit Ionic.

If you can't get started with your Fitbit device, usually a missing requirement is the cause as I mentioned here (make sure to verify each of them).

I followed your instructions and now it won't turn back on!  I bought in 9 Jan 19 and am less than impressed!  (I had fitbit charge 2 previously)  It seems the last upgrade didn't agree with it.  I'm currently trying to locate my receipt but I purchased through Argos and have evidence on my account that it was purchased on the above date.

As it won't restart what is my next step please?

As mentioned on 30/7 I have done everything you suggested and still cannot get the ionic to work.  I've tried every night this week.  Please advise what details are required in order for me to return this for either repair or exchange.

Thanks Jacqui

Rebooting my phone and restarting the Bluetooth pairing worked for me.  Thank you,
