Fitbit Ionic won't start after a shutdown.

I manually shut down my Ionic to reset the counters , that's the solution from Fitbit when the watch is not counting your progress, then i won't turn back on. I charged all night, still nothing happens. I have this fitbit for 14 month now..no issue what so ever before that. Customers support offered me 25 % discount...no even a " send it to us and we have a look in to it". Just trow it in the garbage and buy a other one from us! Great! 350$ watch that last one year and then buy a other one and next year buy a other one... It's that normal?? it's that what Fitbit stand behind and say " buy again form us" ?

For now...Fitbit will be a thing of the past, unless they offer me a other solution than "here's 25% discount and buy a other watch". Wonder is Apple, Samsung, Garmin etc.. treat their customers the same way...? I'll find out soon enough!

I have the same issue with shutdown and restart, but I think your issue is the same as mine, the update that just got pushed 2 weeks ago is the cause, but try this to turn it on: hold the left button and the bottom button for about 20 seconds, you should see the logo come up. if it does, my suspicion is its hanging at shutdown which is why the two button method is working cause its forcing a reset from the hung position.

I am having the same issue after the latest update on the tracker.also after I shut it down I wake up to have to manually restart the entire watch to get it to turn on.  Also the battery is at a very low percent after the restart just to get it to turn on. It is all bull crap. My text notifications haven’t worked in over a year. Seems as if these watches are faulty after a new model is put out.

No the watches aren't fault, its the programmers. Since they keep having these issues, they should put the option to revert back to the previous version if something goes wrong. Honestly I have been fighting with mine since yesterday, from trying to get it to sync for 3-4 hours yesterday, I finally gave up. When I woke up this morning I figured I would try again, and what do you know the watch lost 30 mins during sleep. I dont have the time today, but tomorrow I am going to call and complain, mine is only 6 months old and it was working fine up until the update and I noticed everything going wrong. I have countless times reset everything, uninstalled everything and re-installed and now the **ahem** app keeps telling me there is a firmware update, and even though it says its successful and I get to the main page, it tells me there is an update and when I try it fails with a nice big red "X" and it wont sync or anything.

Cant wait till google programmers take over, really hoping all these problems go away when they finally do, if i'm even still around with Fitbit. But considering their watch saved my life I am giving them more then the benefit of the doubt, but they are slowly losing my endorsement to others when crap like this is happening.

I have had so many people I know purchase the fitbit because of my story.

I strongly agree they have almost lost me as a customer as well. I have already contacted them this morning about the issue wit turning my ionic on after shut down and then it draining my batter all they can say as the higher up team is looking at it. I have heard that for about 2 years with notification issues that still is not resolved. I am
Fed up with the customer service people they are worthless just like the watches.

BrunoRR,

Your welcome, but dont be too happy, there are so many issues with this update its unreal, first and foremost I noticed with mine its losing track of time, for example my watch was synced @3:34am this morning, then when I woke up I looked at my watch and it said 11:02am I was like great got up when I wanted to (11am) when I looked at the wall clock, it was 11:25amso in almost 8 hours it lost track of time by 23 mins?!?!?!? And this has nothing to do with syncing with a phone, the firmware they updated is trash and the programmers need to put the previous firmware back to restore our phones to a functional wearable.

This new update is trash, it’s so frustrating and they never have an answer to when it will be fixed!

@Krista86 ,

Agreed. And this isnt the first time they did this, the happened back in July as well. Would love to know do they even beta test this with a group, or do they just think its going to magically work, or better yet we're probably the test dummies.

Its sad as I sit here my watch is 10 mins slower then real time, and the last time it synced was @12:33pm this afternoon and I cant get it to sync anymore, this is truly garbage. I didnt spend $200+ for a paperweight.

Think its time I speak to one of my many attorneys about this.

Thank you. That allowed me to restart my Ionic.  It wouldn't restart with just pressing the left button the first time I shut it down to clear the calendar items after the firmware update. Must be a bug in the latest version. They need to test better before releasing.

Hi any help!! I have done ‘that update’. Lost the plot with it. Have been switching on using the left and bottom right button. It was losing power when switched OFF over night!  People said try factory reset. I have just done that now the Ionic is completely done. It won’t even switch on. Totally unresponsive. Getting sick of this product considering the cost of it.

@Thackers71 I hope I understood you correctly, and if I didn't please let me know. If you are trying to shutdown the Ionic by going to about then shutdown, understand its not shutting down, if it did you would then be able to turn it on by using the left button. I believe its hanging and getting stuck and never shutting down, which is why the left button and the right lower button needs to be held to hard reset to reboot it. This is definitely due to the update. The factory reset will do nothing, for me it is losing Bluetooth connectivity, losing mins over the course of the day, and many more, I have to constantly delete the watch from the app, and then re-add it, and if that doesn't work have to factory reset the phone and re-add it to the app.

The reason your watch is probably not turning on is possibly the battery is dead. I would suggest connecting it to the USB power cord and let it stay connected to the power source for at least 2 hours, after that I would try the 2 button turn on trick.

hey there. I’d shut it down using that method every night. But when it’s off the battery lost power. 30-50%. I did a factory reset and it’s totally frozen now, won’t power up etc even tho I know there’s over 75% battery life. Spoke to Fitbit on the phone and after 30 odd minutes I’m now getting a new one.

After they made me do several email exchanges, and many steps like record a video of the issues, turn on with power cable connected etc etc ... , now they just told me after 3 weeks, today the following answer.

//Thanks for getting back to us with the information.

System shows that your Fitbit Ionic's firmware version is up to date.

We'd like to share with you that the latest firmware update now requires to press the left-back button and lower right button to turn On the Fitbit Ionic.

We appreciate your kind understanding in this matter.//

I am not thoroughly convinced with the answer though ! If this was the case they ought to have sent an email before the update.

@SanPoo

That answer is not entirely true. The true part is the firmware messed up the watch and that is the ONLY way you can reset the phone because normal means (choosing shutdown from the watch) will not shutdown the watch. Just read all the posts and replies that should tell you everything you need to know. I am currently working on trying to find a solution, because waiting for fitbit to even admit there is a problem is like pulling teeth.

All that is a bunch of crap, when you have to power it like that your battery is drained the next day. I go to bed with 71% and wake up with 23% something isn’t right still even having to power it like that. They never have the right answer it’s always an excuse!

So is mine every time I have to turn it back on the next day. So annoyed with Fitbit. Soon it’s going to be time to kick this watch to the curb and upgrade to a Garmin.

I'm afraid to turn my Ionic off so I only have one experience restarting
since the firmware update. My battery did not drain when it would not
restart with just the left button and when I restarted it using the left
and bottom right buttons. I turned the watch off because the calendar items
didn't clear consistently and I periodically rebooted the watch to reset my
calendar. Restarting the new way didn't clear the calendar so now that
function of the watch is useless.
