Hi, everyone! I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.2! (Firmware Version: 32.12.19) At this time, we've released Fitbit OS 2.2 to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users.
WHAT'S CHANGED?
Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.
IS THIS UPDATE AVAILABLE TO ME?
This update has only been released to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users. If you have not yet received an update notification and wish to force the update, you can give the watch a FACTORY RESET and then follow steps 1 - 4 below. Please make sure you sync the watch before performing the reset so that all your current data transfer over. Factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. Historical Fitbit data will still be available in the Fitbit App.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

Thanks for the replies, folks. My ionic works great. I believe I will leave well enough alone. This has not been a boost for Fitbit's reputation for customer service. Although, I have always found the chat support folks to be quite good.

Deleting Ionic from mit Fitbit Account, deleting it from Bluetooth on my iPhone XR and doing a Factory reset worked fine to get the Update when I reinstalled it. Now I will see what has been changed, at the moment everything works fine.

Hey Everyone!
You can check the updates that you will get if you decide to upgrade to Fitbit OS 2.2 by checking this article What's changed in the latest Fitbit OS Update?. If you haven't received the update, you can try the advice posted by @AlessFitbit on the previous post.
Rest assure that you can always wait for the update to be available to your Ionic, you don't have to factory reset it as it will clear all data from your watch.
As soon as there are more updates to this updates, they will be posted here to let everyone know.
Hope this helps! I'll be around if you have any questions.

Ok, I'm confused. Even if I wait for the update to appear instead of doing a factory reset to force it, I will STILL have to reinstall my apps, reload my music, my clock face, put Fitpay back. Please tell me I'm wrong.

Yes, you completely misunderstood. You will have to reinstall apps and all other stuff if you factory reset.

Ah, thank you. So, if I wait for the OS update to be offered to me, and install it then, I will not have to redo everything? That's much better.

That's why I'm waiting too. I don't want to have to spend the time putting everything back on again. From what I've seen of the fixes listed, it's nothing I can't do without for now anyway.

Hi guys! My friend @Giampi71 is right. Factory reset your Fitbit Ionic erases apps and all personal data from the device, including credit or debit cards you added.
I'd go for what @SilviaFitbit posted here. When an update is available you'll see a notification in the Fitbit app prompting you to update. When the update starts, a progress bar appears on Ionic and in the Fitbit app until the update is complete.
Note that if you update your device at midnight (when your step count resets) you may see an inaccurate step count for 24 hours.
Your patience is truly appreciate. Let us know if you have additional questions.

Hi...I was wondering when or if there will be a fix to having to uninstall anything else that is paired to your phone via bluetooth. Many people have cars, headphones other devices....to have to uninstall everything to get my watch to sync is really inconvenient....and by inconvenient, i mean not even worth it. The watch shouldn't just stop syncing one day....and then I have to pair and unpair

I did a factory reset and updated with no mayor issues (had to do it over Bluetooth and it took a while) and I’m glad to report that delayed notifications are no more! Finally I can use my ionic for notifications after 2.0 break them.

I installed OS 2.2. Went smoothly and the OS does seem a little more responsive, especially with notifications. I will report back in a few days to see if I notice any bugs or change in battery life.

That seems to be the consensus. Thanks to all who weighed in, but I've spent too much time getting my Ionic to work for me - apps, credit card, clock face - not worth the effort to get an update that apparently doesn't do very much.

Welcome here @story1! If your phone is managing multiple Bluetooth connections simultaneously:
These interruptions are typically caused by operating system and Bluetooth limitations. It's also possible that an app on your phone is causing the issue.
If you have an Android phone, try these steps:
The API used in these apps makes it difficult for Fitbit to communicate reliably with your phone. Ford provides a list of apps but note that other companies may use the API as well.
Yay! I'm glad to hear that your tracker is working better after the firmware update @jfgarciamex and @MattJ71!
Thanks for stopping by @Trvlbug207! When an update is available you'll see a notification in the Fitbit app prompting you to update your watch. When the update starts, a progress bar appears on Ionic and in the Fitbit app until the update is complete.
Hi @Comalito and @Purrstachio! Thanks for sharing your personal experience. If you went for the Factory Reset in order to get the latest FW, keep an eye on your tracker's behavior the next few days and see if you notice and improvement on its performance.
If you have any questions, let me know.

Got the update notification a few days ago. After installation attempt the ionic went to a big X in screen. Called support, next day, we tried various reset options, no dice.
The ionic would restart when It got to WiFi set up or just trying to set up WiFi from the device menu.
Customer service are sending a replacement, after verifying a reboot loop.

My Ionic has been working flawlessly since the update to 32.12.19. Battery life is great and the OS seems more fluid overall, especially with notifications.
I wonder how pervasive these issues are? The forums are always more "vocal" than the general population and people with problems tend to express them, whereas the 99% of the community probably just uses the Ionic daily with no problems.
I don't know what the Ionic sales number are, but I would assume in the hundreds of thousands worldwide. There are certainly only a few dozen people active on these forums.
Whatever the case, I hope Fitbit can address the issues people are having.

I think they tweeked this firmware a little since it first came out in early October. I was reading some posts in the sdk forum that led me to believe this. Whatever they did this is the best my Ionic has ever worked. I've gone from looking at other brands to replace it to being very satisfied now with my Ionic.
