Hi, everyone! I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.2! (Firmware Version: 32.12.19) At this time, we've released Fitbit OS 2.2 to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users.
WHAT'S CHANGED?
Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.
IS THIS UPDATE AVAILABLE TO ME?
This update has only been released to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users. If you have not yet received an update notification and wish to force the update, you can give the watch a FACTORY RESET and then follow steps 1 - 4 below. Please make sure you sync the watch before performing the reset so that all your current data transfer over. Factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. Historical Fitbit data will still be available in the Fitbit App.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

Managed to do the update. My ionic works well and if anything, I have noticed some added speed while scrolling or selecting workouts.

Have been using with the new firmware. Now for what ever reason, Bluetooth gets all messed up and can’t sync. The watch is not discoverable when I try to do a sync and try to re-pair. In addition my time on the watch goes out of sync with the real wold. Maybe about half hour slower than real world after 12 hours, and it continues to get worse over time. It was working fine before the firmware update. Now my watch is not usable for time tracking. Help!

@avanarden wrote:Got the update notification a few days ago. After installation attempt the ionic went to a big X in screen. Called support, next day, we tried various reset options, no dice.
The ionic would restart when It got to WiFi set up or just trying to set up WiFi from the device menu.
Customer service are sending a replacement, after verifying a reboot loop.
Well my new ionic is on it's way, my old one actually got passed the setup WiFi update loop by leaving it at the set up WiFi step of the update.
The watch kept trying scan WiFi then it would reboot. After about 30 min of this I noticed the WiFi was found in the app, I entered my WiFi password and it finished the update.
Seems OK now.

Battery life is better and the OS is more responsive and fluid. Just smoother overall.
I'm at 61% after 2.5 days of use.

Since some folks seem to have had decent experiences, I am wondering if the update will eventually be offered to everyone WITHOUT the need for a factory reset. I just don't want to lose everything.

Well, I let my curiosity get the better of me and went ahead with the factory reset. Not too bad with a little help from the support chat people. All I still have to do is reload my music and that can wait until I have time to play with it. Everything else is back in place and the watch does seem more responsive.

I can't tell you either if it has been stopped or not. However, I got it - the hard way, with factory reset. That wasn't as horrible as some here have said, although I agree - it shouldn't be necessary. I had all my added apps, barcodes, MedID, wallet, clock face, etc. loaded back on in about 10 minutes. The only glitch was the music and I needed chat support's help with that. Now all is back in place. The fitbit apps for both phone and computer simply do not work and play well with Bluetooth - they never have; not just with this update. That's an issue that should be looked at in the future.
Now, the good news:
(1) battery life is much improved. It's been several hours since I took the watch off the charger and it's still at 99%. I will keep watching that over the next few days after tracking a couple of workouts and let you all know. It might be wishful thinking.
(2) Getting to the different features is much smoother.
(3) Syncing is much faster.
So, yeah, it was worth doing even if it shouldn't have been such a pain in the rear. My advice is if you are a patient person and like fiddling with this stuff, go for it. If you're not and expect things to work right out of the gate, and get mad when they don't, then skip it. It does have some nice improvements, but nothing you probably can't live without if you are happy with how your Ionic is working. I can't speak for the Versa.

After spending several days trying to fix my fitbit, finally called support and they've shipped out an ionic replacement watch. I had a heck of a time trying to reset the watch with the new firmware. My current ionic has a problem with Bluetooth sync. Unsure if it was just the watch going bad or related to the latest firmware changes. In any case, hope to receive my replacement this week and get back to tracking my activities. Luckily my watch was just shy of being one year old and still under warranty so it still qualifies for a replacement. Hope that the new watch behaves better!

It may not be the watch or the update. Two Bluetooth devices within "talking" range of eac other (like phone and laptop) will make the Fitbit app have trouble syncing. I've had better luck keeping the ionic unpaired with the Windows 10 app unless I specifically need it.
