Fitbit Update: 12/5
Hi everyone!
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1 (Firmware Version: 70.7.14).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
The update includes a variety of new features and enhancements, including:
Smart wake: Smart wake will gently begin to wake you with subtle vibrations during the optimal part of your sleep cycle (during light or REM) within a 30-minute window prior to your pre-set alarm. This allows you to wake up feeling refreshed.
Clock face switcher: You will now be able to store up to five clock faces right on your device and quickly change from one to the other using the new clock face switcher.
On-wrist Sleep Score: The score will now be available in the on-device dashboard that can be accessed by swiping up from the clock face. You can still see it alongside your sleep data within the Fitbit app after you sync.
Exercise app improvements: The redesigned Exercise app will now display all 20 workouts in a new streamlined list on your wrist.
Battery notification: When your battery is running low, a new feature will automatically disable notification vibrations
Agenda app: A new Agenda app allows you to see your calendar right on your wrist.
For more information on the new features included in Fitbit OS 4.1 check out this article. You can also check out our press release.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.

We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

I still haven't updated. Too scared to. No guarantees of support or a fix.
Same here, i don't want to update my device, currently the battery lasts around 4 or 5 days, no issues are wanted where are not needed. My first device was bricked with the February update, so second device is out of warranty. As we are seeing all updates are bricking devices even though they are brand new. The bad news are that Fitbit is not taking strong actions to solve the issues and stop the broken firmware distribution as a contention plan. Customer satisfaction is the most important for a company, something which is not for a Fitbit.

@SilviaFitbit Thank you for responding. I have checked and it still shows the same on my watch even after just doing a power cycle. The sensors do work as its reports it when sync on the app on my iphone including scores and how many hours each stage on the app on my iPhone. Just as I said the watch isn't showing score or sleep stages or hours of sleep during each stage.

Hi, I just started using my Ionic again after nearly a year and it is on 32.10.20.
The app isn't showing me a way to update it. What should i do? Is a complete reset recommended?

I've updated the firmware and some of the new options look great but also my ionic is now playing up.
1. It shut down completely yesterday and needed a hard rest.
2. Fully charged it yesterday and this morning was already doen to 31% battery (I normally do 5/6 days between recharges
3. Got stuck in flashlight mode this morning and needed again a hard reset. During test it said my battery was 0%. When putting on charger it said 31%.
Are these known problems?
So far, not very happy with the unreliability.

I updated my FitBit Ionic and all seemed well for a few days. However, before too long it no longer shows how many days of exercise I’ve done and says I haven’t had any sleep in over two weeks! I’ve done all the reboots and restarts and still nothing.
Oh and I still don’t get any text notifications from my iPhone!
Beginning to despair it will ever work properly again.

Hello Silvia!
" @DmitryN Thanks for getting back. In this case, I've shared your post with our Support team. It's pretty weird that your Ionic is restarting and the button isn't working to stop the workout. " -
I wrote that there is no mechanical start button. After the update, there is only a touch button. In previous versions of the software, the lower mechanical button duplicated the touch button. Now it is not. Writing is about the START.

overnight even though when I went to bed my Ionic was at 31% battery life my fitbit shutdown and now will not even charge up.. so truly disappointed and not sure what I am going to do going forward. If Fitbit only posts an article to your concerns on how to charge up your fitbit after you have been a loyal customer.. going to have to look at my options going forward...

As suggested by @SilviaFitbit, I have restarted my Ionic tracker last Saturday. This morning, I did my swimming workout and the tracker still gives an inaccurate completed distance. I have swum 800 meters but the apps displayed it as 1650 meters. Moreover, the moment when I have completed the time, it doesn't show the summary of my workout but it returned to the clock face. Even after restarting the tracker, the issue still persist, no improvement. It was perfectly fine before. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" I want the status before the update. The update isn't improving it, it worsens the performance of the tracker. Please, please reinstate the old OS!!!

So after using os4. 1 for a few days now I notice that battery life has gone down. I no longer get 5 days out of it,now it's down to 3. The today dashboard sleep score takes a long time to update on the today dashboard. And if the animation cihld be reduced when swiping up, that would be awesome. The splash image takes too long to go away.

@lucaiuli there was a beta for this build, all of last month. I took part and it bricked my Ionic.
I really do not understand why they have released it.

I just tried this update and it was a total fail! I now have a dead Ionic. All that shows is the Fitbit diamond on the screen which blinks every now and then. My phone no longer sees the Ionic. What do I do to fix this?

Hi @YojanaFitbit, there is no need to pass my details on. During the beta phase my bricked device was replaced.
I was just concerned as during the beta I had this issue with the update and it's clearly still an issue in the official release.

Hello @YojanaFitbit,
I just received my second replacement Ionic and after the firmware was updated, it is behaving in the same manner as the original one. I have updated my support ticket but do you know if there are any plans to resolve this firmware issue.
Kind regards,

I’m having the following two problems with this update (currently using Ionic with a Samsung S9 Plus running Android 9):
1- Not being able to turn the watch on in a normal way, which is made by pressing the left button with previous firmwares. As many mentioned, holding the left button and one of the right one is the temporary fix.
2- Battery drains considerably after I shut the watch down (about 40% per night). I think it’s related to the first problem, as the watch might not be turned off completely and might be stuck in an endless loop, which causes the battery consumption and the failure to power on normally. Actually, having the watch on my wrist through the night only consumes about 5% of the battery. I’m forced to do so every night to avoid having a dead watch every morning.
Hope a new update with the two problems solved coming soon.

@YojanaFitbit I really wish you guy's would pull the update. As im expecting a replacement on the 2nd of Jan after it ruin my last fitbit ionic. I don't want to go through this yet again like few have mention that this is happening. There needs to be better Quality Control before a firmware is released.
