Fitbit Pay has stopped working

Hi, I've been using Fitbit Pay for about a year on my ionic, recently after the last update this has stopped working. When I hold left to bring up the card it appears with a loading symbol that's stuck in a loop, the circle has two dashes with one blinking intermittently forever. I've tried removing and adding the card several times, reset the watch several times. Reset and reinstalled the fitbit app, factory reset the watch all to no prevail. It normally works once when re-setting up the card or re-installing the app then goes back to the infinite loading screen. This is extremely annoying as the whole point of getting this watch was to run without taking my phone with me, and now I have to carry it around with me again or my card. I'm with starling bank which I set up to use with my Fitbit as it's one of the only supported banks.

Okay, after losing several hours restarting and updating the Fitbit, failing to update the Fitbit, failing to do a proper factory reset, continuously losing GPS on my runs, I've had 4 Fitbits over 4 years and this is really frustrating because I don't want to switch but I'm feeling like I might have too
