What is the difference between using the Exercise/Run app on Fitbit with the GPS, vs using the Strava App? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? I had previously used Runkeeper on my phone for running and Strava app on phone for biking. I like being able to use the interval cues on Runkeeper as I am doing run/walk/run and training for a half marathon in the Spring. My cell phone does not hold a charge for too long when using the GPS, so I splurged and upgraded my Blaze to an Ionic so I can do the GPS and music right from the Ionic and not have to worry about the phone. I also like the the Ionic can get wet in the rain and I do not have to worry about it like with the Blaze and my cell phone. When using either of the apps with music and a Fitbit Flyer set of headphones, do they give audio cues? (Pace, total time, mileage?) Can either be set up to give audio interval cues? I also used Runkeeper to set up distance goals (like so many miles in so many days). Runkeeper also kept track of my pace progress.

@Setterlover Quite simply, you can’t initiate a run with the Strava app. It is purely to sync your Fitbit activities to Strava, and pull data back down to display on your Ionic. It has very limited use at the moment.

@SunsetRunner So the Strava app and Fitbit app on my phone are linked and exchange data anyway. So while doing a run with the Ionic, (or a bike ride), there is no need to hit the Strava app on the Ionic itself.
Do you know if the Fitbit will give verbal cues to your headphones while running? I want to be able to leave my phone behind and I am used to using Runkeeper for miles, pace and interval cues. Thanks!

@Setterlover As long as you have linked your accounts, that’s right. The data will be automatically synced across.
Re the cues, I believe so but can’t be absolutely certain as (a) I don’t use cues and (b) don’t ride with headphones. Sorry.

Unfortunately the FitBit Ionic doesn't give audio cues when connected to bluetooth headphones 😞
The Ionic will vibrate and display cues on the screen, but nothing over audio. I believe the only way to get audio cues is to use the FitBit app on you phone, which defeats the purpose of the Ionic being able to track GPS and play music so you can leave the phone behind.
In reality, while I was disappointed, it isn't a big deal. When the Ionic vibrates it changes the screen to show the cues, so you don't need to press any buttons. It changes back to your exercise display after a short period.
I'm using it to train for a 1/2 marathon 4 times a week, The lack of audio hasn't been an issue, although I hope they will enable it one day.

I cannot get Strava to transfer activity data from the watch to Strava when the phone is not available during the activity. Also, the Strava app in the watch is not working - I uninstalled it.
Endomondo, my preferred activity app, does not work with the Ionic - it only stransfers steps... and the Fitbit app is useless to analyze activity data... What a pity....
IMHO, this watch is just not ready for market !
