I got my Ionic last week and have been trying to load music onto it, I have managed to get a few tracks on via the win 10 app but it is a slow laborious process. I got myself a Bluetooth dongle off Amazon that is Bluetooth 4 assuming it would work but when I open Fitbit connect it says the dongle is unplugged even though I can connect to my Samsung S8 to the laptop via the dongle. Does it need to be a proper Fitbit branded dongle for it to work or am I just missing something easy and the Bluetooth 4 dongle I have will work. Any pointers or help will be appreciated.

It is my understanding that the dongle is purely a BT dongle used for computers that don’t have the necessary BT radios. It doesn’t contain Fitbit proprietary code. As long as you’re rocking the necessary BT 4 stack you should be good to go.
However, that said, transferring music is an accomplishment in its own right, and W10 connectivity has proved elusive for some (myself included, although I’ve not tried again since recent updates; perhaps I should.) I have read that the Windows Store Fitbit app works better than the desktop “Connect”. Perhaps try that.

I considered the fitbit dongle but thought it was expensive, until they had them here https://www.fitbit.com/uk/shop/accessories/wireless-sync-dongle at about 1/3 rd the price. Mine works faultlessly on my charge2 and ionic, music does take a while (around 40 mins for 155 tracks) but it works .

Is this the right dongle for the Ionic ? I have been trying to do it over Wifi with the usb cable plugged in as instructed but it gets so far and then stalls and the Ionic goes back to the transfer screen, I got about halfway through an upload of 80 tracks, really losing the will at the moment, maybe I'll go back to using my old Ipod nano on my bike rides if it is going to be this difficult when I want to change music
