Fitbit not syncing with strava

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My run this morning is not syncing with strava. Tried to disconnect and connect again, to no avail.

Anyone else experiencing the same problem? Or is it just me?

And does anyone know anything the failure rate of syncing with strava for e.g. Garmin devices? Although it only fails in about 3% of the cases (i.e. 1 in 30 runs) I find this most annoying!

I have a Garmin bike computer and tracked over 1000 rides over 3 years, all have synced to Strava. I also have Garmin Connect setup to sync to other platforms: TrainingPeaks, RideWithGPS, Endomondo, MapMyFitness, TrainerRoad, and XertOnline. Endomondo then pushes ride to Fitbit.

over a 1000 without a problem sounds extremely good! Of course no system can be perfect, but 1 in 30 or so is below any reasonable expectation. Just as any other aspect of the Ionic....

Of course I can manually export from fitbit and manually import into strava, but it shouldn't, be necessary.

My next device will probably be a Garmin, once I have accepted the >300 € mistake I made.

Although not a problem with sync process, I did have exactly 1 ride file that abruptly had timestamps jump ahead by 12 hours late in the ride. That failed to upload to Strava but uploaded fine to TrainingPeaks/RideWithGPS/etc. When I manually tried uploading the .fit file (like .tcx, but a newer format), Strava was kind enough to give an error message that explained the file needed correction and pointed me to a website. That website quickly fixed the timestamps and handed me a corrected .fit file. So that was a problem with the bike computer outputting a corrupt file, and not a problem with the sync process.

Same problem. Today's run has not synced with Strava. This is the third time that I remember this happening in only 6 months of using Strava. It seems no matter how many times people complain and raise this issue it keeps happening. Fitbit is fine for step counting but pretty useless for runners and cyclists who need a consistently reliable device.

I'm no expert, but it may be something on Strava's end too.

Possible, but Fitbit is pushing activities to Strava and I can tell you all my TrainerRoad and Garmin Connect activities are pushed to Strava. So other platforms can do it 100% reliably, but not Fitbit. Sure sounds like a Fitbit problem.
