I received a Fitbit Ionic from my wife as a gift in November of 2017. 14 months later, the watch was working fine, I performed a firmware upgrade. The watch failed to update, it turned off, and it will not turn on. I contacted support, we went through all the steps to recover the watch, nothing worked to turn it back on. They told me it was out of warranty and my only option was to purchase a new watch.
I don't think this is acceptable at all, since the watch was working fine prior to the firmware update, this is clearly an issue that was caused by the update.
Very disappointed, I will not be purchasing another Fitbit device.

I'm not sure if you've already tried a hardware initiated (button combo) factory reset, but it's worth trying if you haven't done so. Steps are below.
On the watch, hold all three buttons for about twelve seconds. This will trigger the 2-button hardware restart after about eight seconds.
- When the Fitbit logo appears, then disappears, release the bottom right button, whilst continuing to hold the left and top right buttons until you feel a strong vibration. This indicates the factory reset was initiated.
- This process may take several seconds, and eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays go to Fitbit.com/setup.
- If you fail to release the bottom right button in time or otherwise don't follow the procedure precisely, the Fitbit logo reappears quickly and boots without factory reset.
It might also be worth trying this whilst the device is connected to the charger, just to rule out lack of power being the issue.

@N8teGee, thank you for your response. I did try that while working with support, unfortunately there is no response from the watch at all.
