Hi @Wengen95, welcome to the Community Forums! Sorry for the delay in responding.

I appreciate the information that was shared with me, thanks for bringing this to my attention. If you haven't already done so, I recommend you to restart your Ionic device following the next instructions:

  1. For Fitbit Ionic, press and hold the back and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen.
  2. Let go of the buttons.
  3. If you still have issues with your device, turn it off and turn it back on. For more information, see How do I turn off my Fitbit device?

I'd like to add that Fitbit devices detect floors with an altimeter, which is a sensor that calculates altitude based on atmospheric pressure. Your device is designed to detect pressure changes based on elevation gain, but other types of pressure changes—such as a gust of wind, a weather change, or opening a door — can occasionally cause your device to register extra floors.

Your device registers 1 floor when you climb about 10 feet, which is the average between residential and commercial floor heights. If you climb long staircases you may find that the floor count on your device doesn’t match the number of floors you climbed when the staircase is taller than 10 feet.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hello. Having the same problem: stairs not being registered. I did what you suggested, turn off, on, off, on. I climbed several flights of stairs today and still shows zero. I got my Ionic a week ago and love (almost) everything about it. Thanks

Hi @SunsetRunner, welcome to the Community Forums!

Fitbit devices that count floors have an altimeter sensor that detects when you go up in elevation. Your device registers 1 floor when you climb about 10 feet or 3 meters. Your device uses changes in barometric pressure combined with the steps you take to calculate floors climbed. Fitbit devices don’t count floors on stationary exercise equipment, such as a StairMaster or treadmill, or when you go down a flight of steps.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.
